The current master dragon deity is not chi wen. Hes really Ji ling from the start.
Ji ling is just an ordinary fox that took form of Yuan wuhou's little brother.
Then he swallowed chi wen's dragon scale and they decided to make him the 'master dragon deity' in chi wen's stead.
Ji ling who was a carefree fox--having the responsibilities upon him for being the fake master dragon deity, had matured or decided to 'grow up' thats why it was seen in later episode, he abandoned his little toy.
Since hes not the real dragon deity, hes not immortal, so he would isolate himself because if he got killed, his disguise as the master dragon deity will be revealed to the people.
Therefore, he created Ji ling the puppet to experience the world outside and Ji ling the puppet would comeback and share his memory outside to Ji ling the fake master dragon deity.
I just finished this drama and all of the confusion I had in the early episodes are all gone.
For those who doesnt get it when they finished the drama may not even watch it carefully.

I really love the effects and fighting scenes here. Its not cringe to watch unlike other dramas who looks stiff😭 also the editing??? Dang looks so real😭
