From what I read in the comments, the only difference between the two versions is the episode length. The TV version has shorter episodes, while the DVD version is longer. The story and the ending are exactly the same in both.

I had guessed that this series was originally supposed to have 40 episodes. They cut almost all of the past-life scenes, and even parts of the final episodes were edited out. But why? Did something happen? I wasn't following any news about the series.

Does anyone know why this series was cut so heavily? They didn't even properly show their past lives, keeping them limited to a few brief, vague flashbacks, even though it was obvious those scenes had actually been filmed.
I was really hoping that, at some point, they would finally show the story of Ye-cha and Jianmu (Divine Tree), but they never did. Their past lives had a LBFAD vibe, and that was the part I was looking forward to the most. I was genuinely disappointed that they didn't show it in full.
In my opinion, most of the romance, the storyline, and even the visual appeal of the drama came from their past lives, yet they cut almost all of it. What was the problem?

You ask a good question, but there is no definitive answer. Maybe he (Hong Rong) didn't allow it, maybe it was a conspiracy by merchant Sim, there are many reasons for it, but none of them are definitive answers.

After seeing your message, I was skeptical too and went back to check again. There's nothing in the series that shows them inspecting his body. he was clothed the whole time and they only checked the necessary signs. It didn't show his taking off his clothes or the rest of his body being checked except for his feet.
