True I feel like this drama is a waste of time but then again he accepted this before SAL aired. Atleast let the guy finish filming his scenes at once and let him move on to another project at this point I don’t see him as a main lead more like a guest appearance lol even guest appearances have much more screen time than this. I understand that this is a female centric novel, but having a male lead in the drama doesn’t mean the female role is being weakened. Bao Shang’en alone realistically can’t carry this drama yet, especially since she doesn’t have strong traffic. From a market perspective, it makes sense for the production to rely on two leads rather than just one.
The novel’s author is also the screenwriter, so the female character will definitely remain strong, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be an important male lead. Many female-centric novels change when adapted into dramas unless the female lead is played by a top traffic actress who can carry a project on her own, which isn’t the case here.
Both actors are new and equally billed, which usually means equal importance and screen time. This is a drama adaptation, not a direct copy of the novel, so changes are normal. I don’t think it’s fair to judge the drama too early.
