Good drama held back by female leads

I really liked Itaewon Class overall. I was gripped from the first episode which is unusual for me because it often takes me a couple of episodes to really get into a kdrama. I love a good revenge drama and Itaewon class is just that, however I did sometimes get frustrated with Sae Ro Yi's blind obsession with revege but at least there's also more to the drama.

I especially liked the storyline with Sae Ro Yi's employees. His employees are a bunch of people who would have a hard time fitting into Korean society, for example; ex prisoners like Sae Ro Yi and his co worker, a trans co worker (who would've been better off being played by a trans person) and a Korean co worker with an African parent. I loved seeing their trials and tribulations and the way they're supported by Sae Ro Yi.

I thought the revenge storyline was compelling, I've seen people paint the bad guy as cartoonishly evil but I kinda enjoy some of these kinds of characters. I also think some of the other "bad guys" are more nuanced than the main baddie which balances him out.

Possible spoiler next paragraph, I don't know how to hide them.

I think the worst part about the drama was how the two main females were written. Oh Soo Ah is annoying in that she goes with the flow and expects Sae Ro Yi to change her life instead of doing it herself and Jo Yi Seo is so much younger than Sae Ro Yi and keeps throwing herself at him.

Even with some of the faults in the storyline I did like the actors but as I said before having a trans actor would've been an improvement. I liked the way Itaewon Class showed off the neighbourhood of Itaewon and it makes me want to visit there. The OST was pretty nice, with my favourite song being You Make Me Back by Kim Woo Sung.

Interesting show brought down by horrible acting

This was my first Kdrama but I was never able to finish it. I knew the show would be kinda shallow because the plot is about a girl who wasn't born beautiful who was tormented at a young age was able to get plastic surgery and change the way people perceived her.

While I liked how this drama brought to light South Korean society's obsession with outer beauty i couldn't stand the two main leads. I understand the FL was traumatised by how she was treated pre plastic surgery so i kind of understand her lack of assertiveness but it was still frustrating to watch. The ML is very handsome indeed but his acting and character is so boring, I'd rather just stare at a poster of him.

Soo Ah was my favourite character, sure she wasnt likable but her storyline and acting were better than the 2 leads.

What an intriguing drama

I wanted to watch He Is Psychometric because I liked the storyline of a boy who goes through a tragic incident and gains the ability to see the past of an object or person that he touches. I also wanted to watch it because Park Jin Young was a lead and I like GOT7. I was not disappointed, he's one of the best idol actors I've seen so far.

Throughout the series I was captivated by the story and its twist and turns. I especially enjoyed watching the growth of Jinyoung's character Lee Anh. He went from being kinda dumb and directionless to being focused on honing his Psychometric skills and growing into an amazing young man.

Potential spoiler coming up

I really liked the chemistry between Lee Anh and Yoon Jai In (Shin Ye Eun) as besties however I wasn't convinced by their romance. Their chemistry kinda fizzled in my opinion when the romantic scenes came up. It seemed like the script writers wanted them to date but kind of forgot about them as a couple when the mystery of the tragic events of their childhoods heated up. I think they should've either had the 2 main leads break up and remain friends or have them as just close friends. Not all dramas need their ML and FL lead to be lovers, this shouldn't be forced if there's no chemistry.

I liked the acting of the rest of the cast and their storylines. At times He Is Psychometric is a tearjerker. I thought 16 episodes was a good amount of time and I never felt like the story was dragging.

I'll likely watch He Is Psychometric again in a few years. I enjoyed the OST, especially JUS2 Take even though it's very different from their other music. I'm going to watch other shows with Jinyoung in them and I'm looking forward to watching Devil Judge.

Had great potential that wasn't met

When I first started watching The King: Eternal Monach I was very excited. There was an interesting plot revolving around 2 parallel universes; one pretty much like modern Korea and the other one based in modern Korea if they had kept their kingdom. The cinematography was top notch and there was also the very handsome Lee Minho and his handsome white horse. I thought it was going to be a ripper of a drama but a convoluted storyline really ruined The King: Eternal Monach.

Things i didn't like was that the once awsome kick ass cop FL ended up being a damsel in distress, the product placement was too much (in fact that's what this movie is best known for) and the series went longer than it should have. My Dad who never watched Kdramas started watching the King Eternal Monach because he really liked the sound of the storyline and the parallel universes but he gave up after 4 episodes.

I remember I liked the soundtrack.

One of my favourite Kdramas

Hotel Del Luna is one of the earlier Kdramas I've seen when I started regularly watching Kdramas in 2020 and it's one that pops back into my mind from time to time. As I'm watching this review I feel happiness that I got to watch this amazing drama as well as sadness that I'm no longer watching it.

This story is about a Jang Man-Wol who is a 1000 year old ghost who loves to spend and has a grudge, she has to work at a special hotel to make amends. Koo Chan-Sung is a young man with exceptional experience managing hotels, who for one reason or another ends up at Hotel Del Luna and is in way over his head.

I loved everything about this drama, the acting from everyone is fantastic, especially IU who plays Jang Man-Wol, (I still have to check out some of her other dramas). I enjoyed the storyline that was interesting, I liked that we had the stories about the hotel quests as well as the overall story about Jang Man-Wol. I thought IU was so lucky to have an exceptional wardrobe of fancy clothes as well as nice cars, she looked beautiful in all her clothes. The sets and the CGI created breathtaking scenes of some places I won't mention because it spoils too much. I also liked seeing how the hotel has changed throughout the years.

Even though I saw Hotel Del Luna 2 years ago I still remember some of the soundtrack and I have a couple of the songs on my playlist, they are; Punch Done For Me and Taeyeon All About You. The soundtrack really enhanced the emotions of some scenes.

I found myself being terrified, laughing and crying throughout Hotel Del Luna. There was a hint of another season and I'm hanging for it, I don't normally rewatch Kdramas but I can see myself rewatching Hotel Del Luna.

Great Zombie drama

I watched Kingdom at the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic, watching a story of a very contagious illness is pretty unnerving at the beginning of a pandemic while things are uncertain.

I'm not normally into zombie dramas but I decided to give Kingdom a go because I heard good things. I enjoyed that part of the drama was working out how the zombie plague started as well as the drama of royal succession in ancient Korea. Kingdom is action filled and kept my on the edge of my seat while also having an interesting story line.

The acting seemed really good but unfortunately I watched Kingdom with the actor's voices dubbed, I found this really distracting but now I know next time I can change the settings. I thought the main actor was very handsome too. The ending gave a hint of a new season coming so I'd definitely be watching the new season if it comes out. I don't remember the music.

I remember it was a great drama

The Good Doctor is my first Kdrama. I watched it many years ago so my memory is a little hazy. The show is about a newly graduated doctor with Savant Autism and it takes place in a children's hospital. The setting of the Children's hospital is perfect for this drama because the interactions with the doctors and the patients is so heart-warming and heartbreaking at times.

As well as drama about the main character and other medical staff, we see drama about the board running the hospital. One of the best things about The Good Doctor is that not only does the main character learn a lot and change for the better but most people he comes across change as well. From memory the acting was very good, especially the two leads and the children were adorable.

I can see why this drama has a Japanese, Chinese and American remake, my Dad has seen the American version and I tried unsuccessfully to get him to watch the Korean version, oh well I didn't see the American version. I don't remember the music
