Check my other comment(comment-15393639), but yeah novel is much better and there is also a 3d animation for Lord Xue Ying story wise it is much better.
Drama is based on I Eat Tomatoes (IET) Novel, Novel is part of a bigger universe, in that universe, IET also has another novel called Swallowed Star (Amazing Novel and I believe IET's best work so far). Lord Xue Ying and Swallowed Star both have 3d Animation they are way better then this trash of a story. So I recommend watching Animation or reading the novel.
