Nothing special.

The investigation and the actors were the most enjoyable part but the romance was nothing special. I did not feel chemistry between the 2 leads, their romance was weak. The best performance was the main villain, Jeong Hyeon Su and the support lead, Ji Hae. I wish she had more screen time and a better storyline, I wanted to see more of her.

There were things that were left unconclusive unfortunately and some things that dragged on way too long. Ji Chang Wook was great but I did not really believe that he was head over heals for Bong-Hui. The actress is very talented but I just did not really feel any chemistry with JCW. They were doing their best but sometimes it just doesn’t work out! I just finished it because I don’t like leaving things, but probably I will not watch this again.

Most beautiful slow-burn romance I have ever seen but so much than that…

I did not think I would love this show so much when started. It was finally a slow-burn done right! This how you do it, ladies and gentlemen…
The story was simple but the characters were very well written so that is what made it compelling to the end. FL and ML very carefully thought out, the actors were amazing and directed very well. I loved the micro expressions and complex feelings they transmitted. I especially loved that Sim Woojoo was not the typical FL, she was though and conflicted, but honest. On the other hand Han Dongjin might just have became my favourite ML character. It is so hard to write characters that people honestly root for, and he was like that. He started to smile more starting from the 10th episode and he was truly happy in the final episode, it was such a joy to see him enjoy life finally after all tha hardships. Shim Woojoo on the other hand, I realized it only at the last moments of the 16th episode that that was the first time we actually saw her with a real wide smile on her face.

Excuse my chaotic review, but I just finished this drama and feelings are still all over the place. If you want a perfect slow-burn romance with beautiful character development, I can’t recommend Call it love enough!!

Overall very good but…

Overall it was a very good fantasy romcom, one of the better ones. The chemistry, the comedy, the visuals and the actors were the most outstanding part of this drama. It was a fun watch, BUT the writing was lazy in the final few episodes. There was no good explanation to Gu Won’s return, it was also rushed and I missed the character development on his part. I do not undertstand why the series spent so much time exploring on how he is getting back his human self if in the end he stayed a demon??!! I think it would have been a much better arc if the ending is him making peace with his humanity and comes back as one. Maybe he could have given up on his powers in exchange for a human life with Do Do Hee.
Keeping everything as it was is very lazy writing in my opinion.
I think Destined with you was superior in this sense even with all of its flaws.

Anyway, it is a fun watch (especially the gang), but do not expect anything out of the ordinary.

I thought I’d like it more

My history with kdramas is not long but I have watched a few and I have my favourites and the few that I did not like that much. I thought this one would belong to my favourites based on the hype but I feel like it did not deliver. The actors were great, the story had potential but something is definitely missing.

First of all, I think the main couple did not have that much chemistry. I love Jo Bo-ah and her character here but I think she looked much better with Rowoon. It was much more believable in Destined with you that they are an ill-fated couple who love each other so much.

In Tale of the Nine-tailed the what kept me with the drama was actually Rang and Yeon’s relationship as brothers. I felt more emotion and complex brotherly love and it was the highlight of the story.

ML and FL are both great actors, loved their performance but something just didn’t click for me with them. It was still enjoyable and watched it fairly quickly, but will not be my favourite for sure. Though I think I’ll watch S2 as I saw the reviews are much better.
