I recommend this drama for people who are having doubt or scared to start a costume/ historical drama. ROTR is a romantic, hilarious, light, relaxing and time travel drama that you can easily understand.
Chen Xiao Qian (played by Zhao Lusi) is a scriptwriter who poured blood, sweat, and tears into creating a big female-centric drama. When Actor Han read the script, he criticized it and halted the filming, Chen Xiao Qian vows to prove him wrong-until she accidentally gets transported to another world where her story has come to life. Now known as the 3rd princess Chen Qian Qian, the minor character with a bad reputation stated to die within three episodes, Chen Xiao Qian must find a way to reverse her fate, survive, and go home.
Prince Han Shuo (played by Ding Yuxi) A fictional character in Chen Xiao Qian's script, he is the only son of the Xuanhu City Leaders. Born with a heart defect, he was predicted to be able to only live to the age of 20. He voluntarily entered Huayuan City as a hostage prince with a secret agenda to impress the 2nd Princess, Chen Chu Chu, and to use her to obtain the Dragon Bone which was touted to be able to cure any illness or defect, and to restore a person to full health.
However, things did not go as planned when instead it was the 3rd Princess, Chen Qian Qian, who arbitrarily took him for her husband. Han Shuo decided to poison Chen Qian Qian on their wedding night but found himself facing a very different Chen Qian Qian whose strange ways and mannerisms begin to capture his attention and falls in love with her.
Prince Han Shuo is from the Xuanhu City where the Men are the superior. And Princess Chen Qian Qian is from Huanyuan City where the Women are the superior. They have complete opposite traditions and culture which is so funny because they must meet half-way to have peace in their lives.😁
Overall, this is my stress reliever drama or if I need a break from heavy, sad, and political drama I always re-watch this. Zhao Lusi and Ryan Ding have great chemistry. They are one of the best couples that I’ve seen. They are cute and their acting is so natural.
The ending is satisfying as well because when Chen Xiao Qian (the scripter) woke up, she remembers everything. And for Han Shuo, his memories were transferred to the Actor Han after an accident, so he remembers everything that happened too (back from the Huanyuan & Xuanhu City), and they lived happily ever after.
