A mystery-filled journey that broke and healed my heart
Southern Archives: The Nanyang Mystery is without a doubt the best drama I have watched in 2026. It is a hidden gem that perfectly blends mystery, thriller, adventure, brotherhood, friendship, and emotional storytelling.
Ding Yuxi's performance as Zhang Haixia was extraordinary. Knowing that he always wanted to act in a Republican-era drama makes this role feel even more special. Haixia's story is one of the most tragic character arcs I have seen in a long time. He suffered endlessly, was forced into impossible situations, had to go against the people he loved, and carried unbearable pain throughout the story. Watching him struggle was heartbreaking.
One of the strongest aspects of the drama is the mentor-disciple relationship between Zhang Haiqi, Zhang Hailou, and Zhang Haixia. Their bond felt genuine, heartwarming, and heartbreaking at the same time. Jiang Peiyao absolutely stole my heart as Haiqi. She was such a cool, capable, and badass mentor. I cried so hard when she died, and I cannot describe how relieved and happy I felt when she came back. Hope to see her in more roles as a main character
Zhang Hailou's character development was equally impressive. At the beginning, he was carefree, playful, and always seemed to find a reason to smile. However, the deeper he became involved with the Southern Archives and its secrets, the more that carefree side slowly disappeared. Watching him lose pieces of himself as he uncovered the truth was devastating. The emotional burden he carried, especially when forced to make impossible choices involving his closest friend, left a lasting impact on me.
The chemistry between Hailou and Haixia was one of the highlights of the drama. Their friendship, trust, sacrifices, and unwavering loyalty to each other formed the heart of the story. The brotherhood portrayed here felt natural and powerful, making every joyful moment and every tragedy hit even harder.
The mysteries were engaging, the suspense kept me hooked, and every case revealed more layers to the larger story. Combined with strong performances, emotional depth, and excellent character development.
This drama made me laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of my seat. It's rare to find a series that balances mystery, action, friendship, and emotional storytelling this well. For me, it is easily one of the best Republican-era dramas ever made and my favorite drama of 2026.

A Beautiful Story of Healing Hidden Beneath Revenge
Going into The First Jasmine, I expected a gentle healing drama with mature romance, quiet emotions, and soft aesthetics. It definitely delivered those vibes—but what surprised me was how psychologically rich the story turned out to be. Beneath its elegant cinematography and slow-burn romance lies a tale of trauma, revenge, healing, and emotional resilience.A'Li is one of the strongest female leads I've seen this year. Her painful past, fragile mental state, and gradual journey toward healing felt incredibly layered. Instead of magically recovering overnight, her wounds remained a part of her, making every small step forward feel meaningful. On the other hand, A'Yao wasn't just someone she healed physically by treating his injured leg—he became the person who quietly stayed by her side, offering patience, understanding, and unwavering companionship. Their relationship wasn't built on grand romantic gestures but on trust, mutual healing, and silent support, which made it even more beautiful.
A'Ying's story - She deserved so much better. I really wish she focused on her becoming independent rather than defining her happiness through mo jingli. She had so much potential to grow into her own person.
And then there's Mo Jingli. Oh, Mo Jingli... He gave me serious Qi Min vibes. Unlike Qi Min, though, he wasn't outright toxic. Yes, after marrying Ye Ying, he remained obsessed with Ye Li and neglected his wife, which was undeniably frustrating. But his character wasn't one-dimensional. His ambitions, regrets, and internal conflicts made him surprisingly compelling, even when I disagreed with his choices.
Princess Lingyun deserved a happier ending too. Her story was tragic in a way that lingered long after it ended. I can only hope that in another lifetime, she and Feng Zhiyao finally get the peaceful life they were denied.
Of course, I can't finish this review without mentioning Bai Lu and Cheng Li. Their chemistry never relied on excessive romance—it thrived through subtle glances, quiet conversations, and an unspoken understanding that made every shared scene feel intimate. The cinematography, costume design, and soundtrack elevated the emotional atmosphere, creating a drama that felt both visually stunning and emotionally immersive.
The First Jasmine isn't just a revenge story or a romance. It's a story about broken people finding reasons to keep living, choosing trust over isolation, and discovering that healing doesn't erase the past—it teaches you how to live with it.

In a world of shadows, they became each other's light

I honestly did not expect much from this drama at first… but now? It completely has my whole heart. This became one of the best fantasy dramas I have ever watched.
THE STORY
The story was so interesting from start to finish. It had everything — strong character chemistry, beautiful development, emotional moments, and so many plot twists. I felt connected to almost every character and relationship in the drama, which made every happy moment sweeter and every sad moment even more painful. And yes… this drama made me cry A LOT. But every tear was worth it. Even though both couples ended up in different worlds, I still consider it a happy ending.
THE FOX SISTERS 🦊
The fox sisters had one of my favorite relationships in the drama. Their bond was so beautiful and emotional, and honestly, I really wish they could meet again someday.
ACTING
Ju jingyi mpressed me so much in this drama. I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else playing Lu Wuyi because she balanced the sweet and cunning sides of the character so perfectly.
And when it comes to Chen duling — this drama officially made me her fan. Wu Wangyan was such a mature and realistic character. Even though she seemed manipulative in the first few episodes, she was actually one of the most empathetic and sacrificial characters in the entire drama.
Ji Ling was such a complex character, but out of everyone, I think he suffered the most. Watching him lose his companions one by one, suffer through so much pain, and still continue moving forward was heartbreaking. That’s why I was so happy that, in the end, he finally got a life of his own.
Wu Shiguang was also one of the most mature characters in the drama, alongside Wangyan. But at the same time, he was also such a crybaby — just like Star Stone and You Chi kept saying. Joseph zeng did an amazing job. Every time he cried, he made me cry too.
MY FAVORITE COUPLE
Wu Wangyan and Wu Shiguang were easily my favorite couple. Their chemistry felt so natural, and I loved how mature their relationship was. It never felt forced or overly dramatic. It just felt real.

Overall, this drama was a complete blockbuster for me. It made me laugh, cry, get attached, and fall in love with every character. This is definitely one of those dramas that will stay with me for a long time.

Every Clue Led Forward… Until the Truth Turned Back

I started watching The Wanted Detective mainly out of curiosity, but it ended up becoming one of my all-time favorite dramas.
Starring Wang Xingyue and Julia Xiang, along with Chen Youwei, Zhang Nan, He Luoluo, and Deng Kai, the drama follows Xiao Beiming, the best detective in Qi, who is forced to flee after being accused of serial murder. Three years later, he returns and teams up with Zhong Xueman and a group of clever allies to solve cases and uncover the truth behind the mysterious “Yesha.”
From the very beginning, I was hooked. It’s the kind of drama that makes you look forward to every single episode—and surprisingly, it maintained that excitement all the way to the end. The story is strongly plot-driven, centered around one major case, but even the smaller cases all connect back to the bigger picture. Nothing feels random or unnecessary.
And then the biggest twist was Yesha that completely shocked me. I literally had a “WOAH, that was unexpected” moment. On the other hand, I did predict that Yesha would be connected to Xiao Beiming’s elder brother, so that part wasn’t as surprising. But I won't reveal who Yesha is. It is a suprise.

ACTING
In terms of acting, almost everyone delivered really strong performances. There weren’t any major flaws for me, except one small moment where Zhong Xueman says “I’m sorry”—that scene felt a bit awkward and took me out of the moment. No hate to Julia Xiang though, because overall she did well.

WRITING
This is where the drama REALLY shines.

A Love and Summer That Time Could Never Erase
Some dramas entertain you. Some stay with you. Never-Ending Summer is one of those rare dramas that quietly settles into your heart and refuses to leave.The narrative moves between their youthful summer romance and their reunion ten years later, showing how love can endure despite time, pain, and unanswered questions.
The love story was absolutely peak. Every glance, every silence, every reunion carried so much emotion that I found myself completely invested in Lu Xixiao and Zhou Wan's journey.
And can we talk about Lu Xixiao? He is slowly becoming the standard for men for me. He is someone who loves deeply, protects fiercely, and never truly stops caring. Zhou Keyu delivered the character with just the right balance of vulnerability and restraint, making Lu Xixiao incredibly memorable.
But the biggest surprise for me was Bao Shang En. Her performance deserves so much appreciation, especially during the emotional breakdowns. Her crying scenes never felt forced. They felt painfully real. You could feel every ounce of Zhou Wan's grief, guilt, and helplessness. I was literally crying with her. That's the kind of acting that leaves an impact.
And then there's the chemistry. Fire. Absolute fire. They made every scene so special and memorable.
Visually, the drama also deserves praise. Their styling, from youth to adults. The warm summer color palette to more bold and sophisticated color palette.
Any drama that makes me cry instantly earns a special place in my heart. And Never-Ending Summer is one of them. That alone makes it a masterpiece in my eyes.
Just like Lu Xixiao's mother's painting, Never-Ending Summer, this drama captures a beautiful truth: some summers may end, but the love, memories, and emotions they leave behind never truly do.
