Lee Ha Neul is the witness of a murder 27 years ago and most probably wrote the book on what he saw. His brother Lee Kang San was chased for some reason (maybe bcz he found something while looking for his missing brother - ex: manuscript) and accidently travelled to future. So LHN most probably is Kai, the one who kills the culprits involved in the murder back then.
