A heartwarming kdrama
(minor spoilers on the ending and the characters stories)In my opinion this kdrama was really heartwarming it's simple and peaceful, I love how it explores relationships whether it's platonic or romantic. I loved every single character in this series, I feel like a lot of people found the time skips annoying but while everyone is entitled to their own opinion to me it kind of would've felt odd without it since I felt like that's what the series is all about and why I loved it. The ending was so fulfilling to me all the main characters got their satisfying end, and even the secondary characters that I adored got a satisfying and heartwarming ending. I'm sure that I won't forget about this kdrama any time soon since the characters were not only relatable but really loveable as well.
I loved NJ she's one of my favorite characters in the series at first she come off negatively to me but her story was all about self-confidence, loneliness and living the way you want to live, she struggles with her fame that made her feel lonely and alone, in the end she finally had the courage to be herself and live her life the way she wants to live it, I love the fact that she stood up for herself didn't care about people's opinions and hurtful words.
The main characters and the main couple as well we're really cute even Tho to me they had really different personalities they still were able to overcome challenges and grow as characters and accept each other. I really don't understand how some people dislike her just because she's a second lead doesn't mean she isn't a good character.
Kim Ji-Ung who's a fav of mine as well. his story would probably be relatable to a lot of people, he has negative feelings about his mother and he had every right to resent her since she was neglectful and made him feel only when he was just a child who needed a family a mother to be there for him, to me his choice to take a video about his mother was heartwarming because he did for him, and for hope of forgiving her one day. I liked his ending it was satisfying, and it was really heartwarming seeing him smile for once.
Lee Sol-Yi: I really love her bubbly personality a real esfp. Shes really cute and has a really enjoyable persona and she's an amazing friend that was always there for Yeon-Su. There more to her as well then just being the main characters friend.
Jung Chae-Ran: she's incredibly underrated I love her, she's relatable and mature, she's always there for Kim ji-Ung even when he was struggling.
she wasn't a main character at all, but I still looked forward to her scenes. Her ending was satisfying to me since she was able to confess her feelings, I found it really cute even though it was a short scene it was still realistic in a way.
The rest of the characters all stood out to me as well but if I start talking about how much I love the other characters then this review will be really long XD.
If you love a peaceful slice of life kdrama about relationships, familial problems, love, personal conflicts, personal growth, youth and friendships then you'll love this kdrama :)

A visualy stunning historical kdrama!
This kdrama absolutely wrecked me. I'm writing this on my second watch, and it took me a whole year to rewatch this series because I always end up sobbing my eyes out lmao, but it definitely has a high rewatch value. You can tell by the stunning cinematography and production and the characters and the overall story that they made this kdrama with a lot of care. I definitely recommend this series; I feel like even people who don't usually enjoy kdramas would love this! Specially people who love period dramas! Was this review helpful to you?
An emotional rollercoaster
this kdrama was one of the most heartbreaking kdramas I've watched! I'm not one to know a lot about Korean history, but this kdrama made me research a lot about the Gwangju uprising!I loved all the characters in this series, especially the main character Kim Myung-Hee! She's a really admirable women and I was really attached to her because of her selflessness. This series introduced me to the actor Lee Do-Hyun and I must say he's really good at playing male leads. I loved his character; Hwang Hee-Tae in this series. Even Lee Soo-Ryeon the main characters best friend captured my heart!
I'm a lover of historical dramas, especially when they are set in the 80s! So naturally, I really loved this kdrama. The first few episodes started of pretty simple with a trope that we see often a poor woman falling in love with a man with a rich family, but just when you think that the series will only revolve around this storyline, we get introduced to a bigger and more complex storyline about protesters, power hungry people, violence, injustices, and the beginnings of the Gwangju uprising. The couple is quite literally swept into it and the story grows more emotional and dark. I think anyone who's a kdrama lover should give this show a chance!

A cliche but I enjoyed it!
I totally get why some people didn't enjoy this show. The plot had a lot of overused tropes like love triangles, bad boy falls in love with the nice girl, etc.But nonetheless I still really enjoyed this drama, the comedy in it was good as well! At least to me lmao. Almost every episode was hilarious to me. I really liked the bromance between the main lead and the second lead, and their friendship with their friend who passed away. I appreciate and respect that they shed light on important topics such as suicide, grief, school bullying, and beauty standards in this series. The last episode really moved me, and I was sobbing my eyes out.
i didn't like the webtoon and dropped it, but I think the kdrama gave it justice. I feel like a lot of people didn't like this drama because of the webtoon. If a series moves me and makes me feel emotional then it was great, but everyone's experience is different. One thing I don't like about this series is how they used a trope that I hate, which is when the second female lead is being treated with less love compared to the second male lead. It's a huge trope that female second leads are vain and cruel, unlike their male counterparts who are loved. Kang Soo-Jin had a lot of potential so I'm glad she got a little redemption in the end, although I couldn't forget about her actions and how it caused pain to everyone she loves. I still love her though; I just wish she was written in a better way. Nonetheless I managed to look passed this trope, because I treated this show as a fun little drama that I watched to distract me from school lol.
The OST is also really great it ranges from fun to emotional depending on the plotline and I enjoyed them all!
Anyways just because I liked it, doesn't mean you will! So, if you can't look passed the cliche love story and tropes in this series then this kdrama isn't for you, but if you want to watch a kdrama that might give you a boost of serotonin then I suggest giving this a chance :)
In the meantime, I'm just going to go cry over my boy Han Seo-Jun
