Honestly, every single episode makes me think Bai Yutang having nothing to do with the Jin family for however many years is probably the best thing that happened to him.
The Jiangs are not much better. I knew that lady was suspicious from the moment she approached Linglong and I agree with HLL - they all speak about feeling sorry, about feeling remorse, but when it comes down to actually doing something right for a change, it all suddenly vanishes.
I am also starting to worry about Xiao Tang with the situation he now found himself in...
It’s actually Bai Yutang’s Fourth Aunt that’s the woman in white? :O Now, that is a surprise, She was pretty suspicious from the moment they asked her about that embroidery. Her evading the question was something I put on her being pressured by Jin Zhenping, but now it might be even more tangled up.
Poor Bai Yutang, the one person he thought was good in the whole family…
Also, I’m wondering… Was it mentioned if the poison causes anything other than hallucinations? Because I get that Bai Yutang is seeing things, but if it was just that, wouldn’t he reasonably be able to deduct that he’s hallucinating?
Damn, I am enjoying this drama so much I have no clue when the episodes end…
I do believe that he went there to pick up herbs, but when they mentioned that Jin Xuewen’s scratches might have been from an eagle, after that scene when the brothers spoke about kites, imagine he actually went into the hills to have a look at the eagles to make his brother a better kite.
I’m quite ready to bet a lot that the ‘woman in white’ that they are looking for is Huo Linglong’s aunt’s best friend that was so keen on talking to her and become her new ‘aunt’, and who testified that she saw Jin Xuewen the night of the murder. I can't remember her name.
Why do I have a feeling that Huo Linglong’s family might actually be involved in the whole big conspiracy, or at least that Huo Feng guy.
No, I agree. That's what I'm thinking too - the brother is either innocent, or if he actually by some chance was somehow involved, he was a victim just as much as anyone else.
And 100%, there's no doubts that Shao Jizu is only after the treasure and never actually cared about Huo Linglong. It's been rather clear from the start. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in the earliest episodes but he quickly made it clear that nope, he didn't deserve it :)
Aww, the scene by the fire has absolutely melted me. Ming Zhu’er offering Bai Yutang to teach him how to swim, the whole group being supportive to Bai Yutang just because he’s one of them, and just being there for him… That’s exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for with this drama when it comes to the interactions between the main characters, and I hope to see more similar scenes, for all of them really.
Jin Zhenping, when you’re barging in and making a scene like a child, you’re definitely making yourself sound more credible.
Oh, the girl killed back then was Huo Linglong’s aunt? I can’t say I’m very surprised, though I had discarded that as a possibility. I suppose it makes sense that they would lie to her when she was a child. So I guess the current arc will be about getting justice for both, Bai Yutang’s brother and Huo Linglong’s aunt.
I see what you’re doing there Shao Jizu. Trying to sow discord in the group.
The aunt trying to convince Bai Yutang to let it go because Jin Xuewen confessed… Oh, yes, that’s definitely very convincing to me because they really wouldn’t do anything in their power to make him confess whether he actually committed the crime or not. Like, threatening him with his brother’s life or something along the lines. Why are you two acting as if that piece of paper solves everything?
It’s either the guy being a scapegoat, or the test subject for the poison that they are using to control people and he killed the girl under its influence. At least these sound like the most credible explanations to me now, given I don’t expect them to reveal that Bai Yutang has been wrong all along and his brother did actually murder the girl in cold blood. Especially when the knife appears to be a set with the one Si Ming has.
At least Zhan Zhao is showing some reason, which I guess makes sense since he is the only one not directly connected to either side of the murder case. The officials in the court are not acting suspicious at all. And Si Ming revealing himself like this… Isn’t that just inviting trouble? But of course, the lead he gives is a dead end. Zhan Zhao, who do you think the person you are looking for is other than the very same person who sent you on a wild goose chase?
That „Aunt” just so happening to come across Huo Linglong is very suspicious to me. Perhaps I’m trying to see too much when there isn’t anything but I find it difficult to believe in such a coincidence that they just bumped into each other like that.
Bai Yutang stirring trouble by signing himself up using his brother’s name – aww.
Let me guess – it’s going to turn out that this Jin Zhenping is the one, who actually committed the murder the blame for which was put on Jin Xuewen, and they helped him cover it up and put it on a scapegoat in exchange for the poison he created.
Let’s hope it’s a proper antidote that they received. But, with a family like this, it’s no wonder Bai Yutang doesn’t usually mention his connection to them.
Why do I have a bad feeling the poor Xiao Tang is going to meet a tragic end? Either that, or he will end up becoming the Master of the Tang sect after everything is exposed, but with the record so far and him helping Zhan Zhao and the rest, I think I’m leaning towards the former.
Finally, we are learning the story from 15 years ago. I had been hoping for a little bit more of Zuo Ye in those flashbacks, though. Just a tiny bit. But hopefully they're not over yet. And ooooh, so that’s how Bai Yutang knew Qiu Chan. Now it makes me all the more sad that he didn’t actually get to help her in the end. :(
I’m expecting a few Bai Yutang focused episodes, it should be so fun.
To answer your previous question, I think Yuehua's brother sacrificed himself to harm Jing Yiming because he was…
Right, I have considered that he might have done it mainly for the sake of his sister, wanting to get to Jing Yiming before her so that she wouldn't have to take the risk herself but when you put it that way... I guess it would also make sense if, despite knowing he stands no chance to actually win, he still did everything he could to injure Jing Yiming and at least increase his sister's chances.
A lot of the time, my comments is me thinking 'aloud' and commenting more than anything. But thank you, I guess I had not considered it from that perspective :)
Awww, the siblings get to reunite, even if only for a little while.
I can’t say I’m surprised to see Ding Yuehua kill Jing Yiming herself, or really blame her for wanting to do it herself, especially with everything we had learnt about her so far, but at the same time I find it interesting because out of all the people, I’d have expected the Dings to trust in Zhan Zhao’s promise and ability to bring the guy to justice.
The story reminded the Granny of a different one, huh? As if it wasn’t obvious who exactly she was speaking about even before she mentioned the damaged eyes. Zhan Zhao really has a silver tongue, though; charming women of all ages left and right lol Though, I guess I have never really paid that much attention to it, the majority of the people in Hanshui Gong do seem to be mostly women – it makes me all the more curious how Mr. Zhang Ri found himself there.
And oooh, it looks like they’re about to reveal what happened 15 years ago. On to episode 19 then!
Unless they invent a miraculous medicine that gets rid of all of his scars, I guess nobody will have any problems to tell the Ding twins apart anymore if the other one wakes up from his coma.
Zhan Zhao’s two young sidekicks freaking out as they walk during the night was quite funny.
Of course the missing pieces of the burnt papers that they needed just happened to hide themselves from view lol But it’s funny how they all speak about Zhan Zhao just wanting to use them for a promotion. I guess his attitude must be very rare if that is what they all expect lol
Bai Yutang, Bai Yutang… I love you man, but it’s really not a good idea to so stubbornly deny and pretend that you’re not poisoned. Not that I'm complaining that you're halucinating your brother (I suppose?) but still.
Did Ding Zhaohui seriously think that Jing Yiming isn’t suspicious of him, or was he just trying to play the hero and take Jing Yiming out himself? I know he was kind of introduced as not being the brain in the family but with everything he learnt about the guy, how are you expecting him not to be suspicious? And why on Earth would you drink anything the guy gives you if you don’t see him pour the same thing to his own cup?
I'm curious to see if the siblings get a reunion, or one of them ends up dead before it has a chance to happen.
It’s so interesting to watch Si Ming, especially when this role is so different to what the actor played in Pursuit of Jade. Kudos to the actor, really – he does very well with both.
Can I just say that 7.7 or seven or above is actually not a low rating by mainland standards. Plus this is a fan…
I'm SO in agreement with everything you said. I think, first and foremost, for this drama but really any other, people should actually give it a try and judge for themselves. Obviously, not every drama is going to be for everyone - everyone has their own taste and one person is going to love something, another is going to hate it. And MDL rating is notoriously not reliable, so making any assumptions/decisions based on it alone is just plain stupid.
And I'm the same, if I don't like something, I will say I gave it a try, it didn't work and move on. I don't understand why some people seem completely unable to follow this kind of attitude when there are so many dramas out there, and rather than waste time on something they don't enjoy, they could do everyone - including themselves - a favour by finding something else that will fit their taste.
I am disappointed by the way ordinary people, who have never held positions of extreme importance, such as judges…
This, 100%. I'm so tired of people complaining about how ML doesn't punish the bad guys himself but wants to bring them to justice. That's his job, that's what his character is all about, that's why he is supposed to be better than those corrupted official that he is dealing with. Not to mention, it's emphasised time and time again in the drama itself, so are they even watching or just hating on everything for the sake of it?
Oh my, Zhan Zhao fell from the cliff, oh no! What a tragedy! What's going to happen to him? After all, it only has 100% survival rate in C-dramas. At least some people are sensible enough to realise that no body = no certainty he's actually dead.
Zuo Ye spotted, yay! I'm not expecting him to have a big role here but I can't help hoping we may get to see him again if his character apparently is connected to Bai Yu Tang's past... I want to know what happened 15 years ago, too.
At least they answered my wondering about Zhan Zhao recognising Ding Yue Hua. It was nice to see.
I'm a little behind, only on episode 13 right now, but I wonder if Zhan Zhao isn't actually aware that he's interacting with Ding Yue Hua, and just acting as if he is oblivious... Her face is not even hidden all that well, and she's not trying to change her voice or anything. I just can't help finding it a bit of a stretch if he was to actually not recognise her at all just because of that little veil.
