I say that I am bi to others but in reality I don't put any labels on me because I feel that I am restricting myself and put me in a box. I don't really need a label for me, I just use it so others will be less confused. A label serves to help you realize your emotions and put a name to your feelings,but you don't really need a name for everything. As long as you try to listen to your heart it does not matter what name you put in what it says to you.
Concerning your relationship, I think there is luck of communication and honesty on his part, two elements that are important in relationships, which makes it hard for it to work. I think you need to have a talk and if he does not try to change ( which most likely won't happen, humans don't chamge easily), I think it is better to end it.
