If he was about to go into another production in May/June, he probably wouldn't have joined the variety show in July. Wonder what this drama is? Ancient costume if it's in Hengdian?
🍉barring unexpected delays, Mango plans to air this in November
So soon? Hoping that doesn't affect editing. Hoping this doesn't mean cutting out crucial parts of the plot/character development. Hoping this means on set sound and not dubbed audio!
As seen on XHS: Can Wang Xingyue be cast in ALL the dramas in the Chinese entertainment industry? I would totally switch to Cdramas full time if he was in them. He doesn't even need to be the male lead in every show. 🤣
I think he is a fine tuned actor but what’s interesting is I didn’t see any responses defending his looks…
His strong, angular features break all the "flower boy" standards that K-Pop popularised. So, I get this his looks might not be for everyone. I think he's extraordinarily beautiful myself.
His acting, however, is not evaluated subjectively. It is objectively very, very good.

Yes, and what's especially impressive is how deeply each character is differentiated. They look, sound, walk, even stand differently. And, he's not afraid to play against the stereotype, as you'll see in "Unveil: Jadewind".
So far, Xiao Beiming is also my favourite, followed by Xiao Huaijin, then Xiao Heng. (He has an affinity for characters named 'Xiao', haha!)

You have no obligation to change your mind and are entitled to your opinion.
But, a couple of years ago, he was the victim of a pretty vicious smear campaign. He was attacked for almost everything (all debunked and spurious), except his acting. There is near unanimity about his approach and dedication to fleshing out his characters. You should see his villain role in "One and Only". He played Liu Zixing when he was just 19.

Yes, I hope he gets quality teams and scripts, regardless of genre. Good actors always lean towards good scripts and strong characters, so almost anything he's in is likely to be good.

I really don't get why romance is such a benchmark. If this is another detective drama, his fans might consider that WXY wants to do these. He's consistently picked roles that are complex and unconventional, even in romance (though I don't know if "Confession" falls in that category). His upcoming "Love in Red Dust" may be a romance, but he plays a deaf prince--the challenge is in playing a hearing-impaired character, not in the romance.
He clearly wants more "Bao Hu"-style work that challenges him
iQiyi announced that as of March 2026, Shadow Detective earned 6.57 million in profit so far. Congratulations…
Ohhh, this would be awesome. I would LOVE to see him in this. He has a tonne of talent that should be used in epics and thrillers and in film (why isn't he in films???). I really hope this is true.
I wanna see him in a non-historical, non-romance drama. A dark psychological thriller or action drama.
"Just Fight/Bao Hu" is a thriller - modern day crime and drug trafficking. Really looking forward to it, but I understand it won't come out until next year. I think he'd be great in those and I agree with you wholeheartedly.
I can tell you what #WangXingyue doesn’t have: No wealthy family. No relatives in the industry — no “second-generation” shortcut. No idol background. No trainee-idol system behind him. No modeling career to ease the way. No powerful capital backing him. No perfect agency/agent shielding him from every misstep.
If today he’s offered scripts others would fight for, it’s because of his talent and his work. If production teams look for him and platforms are willing to invest in him — even bringing shelved dramas back to life — it’s because he delivers.
He left his hometown at 15 and went alone to Beijing to chase a dream. He was admitted to one of China’s most prestigious acting academies - Performance Department of the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing - and graduated at 19.
No shortcuts. Just ability, discipline and countless quiet sacrifices.
Pure talent, yes — but also courage, persistence, discipline and many sleepless nights no one saw.
And his endorsements follow the same path — earned, not given.
Wang Xing Yue- I’ve seen him in some works, and honestly, he’s a very bad actor and quite unattractive. He…
Lol! (to continue the trend)
This is the actor who made the gentle, nerdy Xiao Huaijin sexy. This is the actor who made Duke Su, with less than 10 mins of screen time per episode, the hottest character in The Double. This is the actor who made the cold as ice Meng Xiaodong the most interesting character in someone else's love story! You do have bad taste if you think this man's stunning bone structure is unattractive. But his sex appeal (of which he has a problematic amount given his youth) is secondary to his undeniable acting skills and beautiful voice. Watch him in "The Wanted Detective" to see just how good he is.

It really changed my perception of a sweet college romance.

And kudos to Shadow Detective.
