Seriously? That's sad really. He can't be paired with the same actress all the time smh. This is the first time I saw him in a drama and he's a really good actor. Looking forward to watching his other projects but need to shake off his Xiao Se's image.
Hmmm 🤔 I really like ye ruo yi’s character more than sikong qianluo. Qianluo seems so flat. She doesn’t…
I think RY has more lines than QL but there isn't really any character development as she is almost too perfect whereas QL still needs more scenes to mature. I find QL brings a fresh feel as she is more animated. It's a flaw in the storyline as the female characters only serve as backdrop. I am keeping my low expectations on any sort of development as we are pass the half way mark and the writer doesn't really care too much.
I'm only on episode 12 so far but I have to agree with some of the comments here about some of the female characters.…
That's part of the problem. They opened a can of worms and doing a crap job of it. The FLs are just there to make the main male leads look good, say one random line in the whole episode but otherwise invisible. I also noticed two scenes where QL had to remind LWJ that he acknowledges the other person but not her presence. This creates a divide amongst its viewers, one group wants to forego the romance that slightly detracts from the main storyline and the other wanting more to make it a more cohesive/convincing romance arc. However, ep 24-25 does show more of the female leads, all the power to them to go all in.
The people that are saying that Xiao Se doesn't like Sikong QianLuo clearly can't see that that boy likes that…
I think most people don't want him to be paired anyone, but if they had to include romance, they chose RY cause she is the better option. XS seems to care for QL but he just doesn't show it, the fact that he's contemplating whether to allow her to go with him for battle shows that he is being protective. She's not a weak character but is a little dense so she just crush on him blindly with loyalty.
In MDL most people hate Female leads ... especially in Heavy Male leads based dramas...They don't get free pass…
Yes all good points. I notice a pattern that most people don't like the FLs in male centric dramas, regardless of what they or don't do, in the case, the mere sight of the FL is worth critiquing which I don't get. I always end up feeling sorry for the FL protagonists when they get excessive criticism. I do appreciate everyone's analysis so I try to keep a neutral tone.
I swear this thread is so anti-SQL sometimes. Feel bad for the female actress here cause she's a newbie and not getting much script lines nor character development. She doesn't have much purpose here supposedly as a main lead, like a vase to XS, the script made her almost insignificant, even more so than RY. Sometimes, I want to tell her to just get over her one-sided crush cause he ain't feeling the same. However, I still enjoy watching all the characters here, small or big, good or evil. On the other hand, today's eps were the best, trailer for tmr is action packed, everyone assumes that Tang Ling will die next episode but I doubt it since he's part of the main cast.
i like xiao se and qianluo, i dont think they dont have chemistry, but they lack a better building on their storyline
It's the worst of it's kind depending how you look at it. I like watch romance wuxia so giving me a sub-par love line without a nice build-up is like slow torture sometimes, so either have it or don't even bother. I went in with little expectation of it going nowhere since it's more a political theme so this series gets a pass.
I don't mind the romance but wished they'd give her something else to do other than just tagging along the gang,…
Exactly, that's the fault of the writer. I know this drama is male-centric but since she's main lead too, is it that hard to let her character shine too? she should have more input in their journey and not just tagging along.
Did you read the novel? If so, can u give me a spoiler? They actually get together or admit any feelings or something…
I really hope they add the scene too where LWJ is teasing QL that her presence makes him seem like he's not only mindless person in the gang. RY and XS teasing each other respectively about their feelings about LWJ and QL. The awkward silence/blushing after XS blurts out and possible funny misunderstanding from LWJ/QL that it's a confession between XS and RY. Hope they also add the piggybacking scene with XS/QL in the snow, that's a romantic scene right there.

If I recall, I believe XS was talking to RY while SQL was playing around with LWJ. RY kept pestering and teasing him to answer her question if he likes QL and he blurted out loud that he does, must be an awkward and funny scene. Hopefully that's included in this drama adaptation.

Same here. I know the majority here seem aggravated about the romantic elements of this drama, especially with the CP for obvious reasons because it's not necessary. I like all the aspects of this drama, but I am for sure enjoying the romantic scraps so far. Maybe I'm not in the minority whose rooting for the writer to add more romantic/comedy scenes.

I think he does have feelings for SQL, it's just that he's good at hiding it. The subtle looks and gestures kind of give it away. I noticed that he sneakily looks at her whenever LWJ teases them. He also comments that she's pretty, looks shock when he knew she's in the marriage competition, stares at her near his bedside, slyly smiles when she said she'll never let him get hurt again, buys her flower out of convenience, sends her away to protect her from danger. There are times where I feel he's slightly jealous or annoyed and actually show emotion when it comes to anything concerning her, aside from his exceptional chemistry with LWJ too. He's definitely warm in the inside and cold on the outside.
he will die soon because of his illness...we're going to be so sad.
You sure about that? XS is the main character, he's not going to die. They're most likely find a cure. From the spoilers of the other commentators, he most likely ends up with QL. I'm thinking it's a happy ending.
ROFL Whenever she is on screen, I question why Qian Luo is the chosen one for Xiao Se.
Yes I thought that WX and QL were quite similar, same age and same playful characters, they are literally boy girl versions of each other, while XS and RY both have a mature/calm demeanor and suited more in terms of personalities with ethereal looks. The writer had to switch the two up so I understand why ppl said they look mismatched too. I don't mind the opposites attract concept too.
yes, with Sikong! actually I don't mind them together for some reason, i think because she doesn't have alot of…
I like Sikong, I wish she got more lines so we can see her character development but I know the focus is on the boys. Maybe she only has admiration for XS but they don't end up together in the end and they remain just friends?

That's nice of her. I thought she was one of the main characters and was excited to have a girl join in the gang. Honestly, WX and QL make such a cute couple too, they both have outgoing personalities and makes more sense than XS since he's so cold. Maybe it's not so late for her to switch over to him instead :-)
I am enjoying watching the trio cause of their chemistry so far. The choreography and martial arts scenes is on point. The plot moves fast so I don't feel bored. I know romance isn't the main theme here but I almost feel sorry for QL the way XS treats her, it seems like a one-sided romance the whole time, why does the writer bother drumming them up if she was suppose to be one of the main characters but feels like she's ousted from the all-boys club and relegated to a supporting female character with filler lines. Another interesting subplot is if RY likes both WS and XS?
for me honestly i only interested with what bromance/ friendship invested by author as for the romance, all of…
Fair enough. I like the brother trio but to add a fun girl to spice up the relationship dynamic. I guess the romance is not required but it doesn't hurt either in my books cause I like all the main leads. She's also a main lead so she'll definitely be part of the adventure. Even though she's young, I am guessing QL will mature and be supportive with her strong martial arts experience, I doubt she'll be a hindrance to their journey.
