I view that scene and the differing emotions behind the same words to be really good. I imagine her feelings are sobering.

They are not equals, his court hates her and it's probably illegal for them to have a relationship. So for her, this is not a butterflies and light hearted love. She is driven strongly by her emotions, but must contain them.

For him (with all the power) and in his isolation, finding someone he can connect with is deeply moving and emotional and he acts on it.

It's a really good drama and well written. I don't think people truly empathize with the effects of the emotional trauma of the FL.

It takes someone who is impulsive, willing to take great risks to come from the bottom and get to where she is. That is the person who runs away from her captivity, who makes the attempt even though success is minimal.

It comes with great costs; she met the ML but lost her best friend. She accepts those tradeoffs.

Otherwise, she would just be like the other characters who ended up trafficking women after they were abducted and abused. The show demonstrates this multiple times,
It's part of her wiring. She is reactive, driven by a burning desire to right the wrongs she grew up under and it leads to her being in danger. It’s frustrating to see as a viewer, but it is true to the wiring of this character.

So, if at 14 during your first trip across the country, you took down a gang like that, you would not remember? Even the chancellor remembered. It clearly made an impact on how he was viewed as a crown prince and potential leader.

Yes, and I think they intend for his look to be sinister, forecasting his black heart, but he just looks ill to me. The old man with that walking stick (left chancellor) looks healthier.

It's a very happy ending. People are just complaining because it wrapped up so quickly. But the leads were very loving and touchy throughout their marriage, so the writers probably decided there was no need to linger.

That SML hit her with a whip when he was angry. Literally committed violence when he didn't get his way. 1. Never, ever go with a man who hits you. EVER. 2. The ML felt the same for the FL, helped her like the SML, and did what is right - he proposed.
The SML did not. And then when he found out, more violence. And like all men who commit domestic violence - they blame everyone but themselves. Claim to love, when really, it's toxic possession. And make the women against who they are violently possessive feel guilty.

I'm halfway through episode 7 and wondering - why would someone who was marrying a prince for status, be so unaware of the rules of status? Be so uninterested in her own wedding and what is required. It makes no sense that she would be so ignorant of the world she wants to marry into.

I just started this and even though it's a minor age gap (only 8 years apart), this FL should never sign up to be cast against a baby faced ML. Do they not have testing before they film these things? The comparison is distracting. It's like watching a teenager crushing on his Mom's friend.
I'm not giving up though.

I'm rewatching and now feel that the Princess of Susha was treated horribly. On the first watch, I had no patience for her. But now I'm seeing that he took everything she had to give and couldn't even give her one singular night of passion? She was done so wrong.
