Can you explain what happened 17 years ago? It has been posted but is so buried. Two princes, two Tiger tallies, some framing.. but why? Just because of a comment? Trying to understand ppls motivations & actions. I’m also trying to understand why ML’s mom felt she had to take drastic actions in order for wy to spare ml’s life (that letter).

Somewhere buried in this platform are explanations but it’s probably thousands of comments ago ( there’s about 1000 comments a days.) maybe discussion has it.

I was thinking if they could have more eps, they could have develop this. Gone are the days of NIF where there were no ep limits and stories could be told more fully.

I see that he’s listed as the male lead and see the development of him and the FL. Their relationship is the main focus compared to the other ones. Sure, there are stretches where the spotlight is not on him but it always circles back to the two of them. So it confuses me that he would be considered a supporting role.

The world is not black and white but a messy palette of grays in between. Even our crazy villian is not a 2D character.

It will all come together but if you blink, you’ll be scratching your head about what ‘why/ huh?

Yes! Sometimes we get too greedy because are expectations are unrealistic. This drama is a cut above so many in cdramaland but different ppl find different aspects interesting in a drama.

I’d say he’s the ML after completing the drama. Why does it matte

Would need investment $$$ to do that. This is the director’s 2nd long length drama and the main leads probably do not have as large a fan base as YZ ( in the two dramas you mentioned). So perhaps that was part of the decision. All my guess though. It would have been nice to have more episodes to better tell the story. An ambitious undertaking to flesh out so many characters. I felt they had to capture the highlights due to the length limitation. Thus so many ppl complain about loose ends, etc. I don’t envy the folks who had to make the cuts.

I was just gonna say if all you want is romance, then you’re gonna miss a HUGE chunk of the drama b/c this drama is not just about the romance. politics is a big part of it and their romance is accentuated by the politics and war. It won’t be as impactful w/o understanding all the “other” stuff.

You can start by looking at the directors other dramas. He’s very good at this.

No need to be hesitant. No drama is perfect. So far this has been oveall consistently enjoyable for me. I don’t know what you’ve watched but for a historical drama, this is pretty good.
