Was amazing until the ending

I had such such such a good time watching this show. I couldn’t get enough of it.

I only have one complaint.
Just. One.

The last 2 episodes.
It wasn’t even the usual rush to finish the story that I’m used to with a lot of cdramas. It just kind of ended and I was left going “huh? That’s it? I mean, ok, I guess”.

This show went from giving a lot of details on how the characters overcame all the sticky situations or obstacles to being very vague. The last two episodes that was suppose to be the peak drama with the main couple pulling through under delivered. I really think they needed 1-2 more episodes, then the ending would have been faithful to how the rest of the drama was written.

I am not sure if there were things lost in translation (I don’t speak mandarin) but the ended had a lot of important details that were implied and the viewer had to guess.

I’m so sad that I’m walking away with mixed feelings and only partially satisfaction.

Toxic relationships romanticized.

This drama left such a bad taste in my mouth.

The only thing I could focus on was the very toxic relationships between the FL and her two love interests/MLs.
They were constantly gaslighting and manipulating her. She would then call them out on it (which, good for her) BUT she would then turn around and do the EXACT SAME THING TO THEM!
Can you tell I have very a negative opinion for this drama?

There were only two “interesting” things. 1) there was there was a lot of grey morals for both the “righteous” and “bad” side. And 2) that the FL lead ended up with the “bad” guy.

I would NEVER recommend this show. And I go out of my way to tell people NOT to watch.

Ps I don’t remember the music so the rating is not reflective.

And the Winner is … Snooze

If I had one word to describe this cdrama it would be, Flat. I also never fell asleep so many times while watching a cdrama like I did for this one. Holy mackerel.

But I successfully suffered through the series. Full disclosure, I watched SOLELY for Lu Yunxi. That is the only reason why I stuck to the end of this show.
I was not very pleased with his character which was a total bummer. But I have “Love is Sweet” on my “to watch” list for redemption lol.

I knew going in it was not going to be the best show ever, but oh boy, was it so bad! Not the worst I’ve ever seen but it was a runner up.

The FL was meh. I think I’ve finally found a female actor that I wouldn’t want to watch play the lead ever again. I liked her enough when she played supporting roles in “Princess Weiyoung”!and “Ashes of Love”. I found her acting to be similar to all the other characters she’s ever played, which were never very interesting.

And to top it off! the chemistry between the ML and FL was nonexistent.

The ONLY redeeming factor was I loved the OST. I already had it downloaded so I knew the songs and even though I would never watch this drama again, I will forever listen to the opening song.

I wouldn’t recommend this show unless someone was desperate …. Ok maybe not even then …

Feel good drama

If you want a lighter drama that has didn’t drag much, this is a good one. I haven’t see the FL in anything before and only seen the ML in supporting roles. I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked watching them and felt they portrayed their characters well. Their relationship was natural and I didn’t have any awkward moments watching them.

The second couple had a decent plot too which I appreciated.

I do have to say that you will never meet more understanding people as the ML and FL characters. Wow. Their relationship was going so smoothly and the (inevitable) falling out was seamless. A perfect example of how there are consequences even if the intentions are pure.

Would I reccommend if anyone asks? yes.
Would I watch again? nah.

couldn’t finish even though I wanted to

oof.
I love the ML and FL. Their acting was what kept me coming back. Because I stopped in the forever episode land of them not being together, I forgot what their chemistry was like. I think it was good?
The supporting actors also did well.

I felt there were a lot of plot points that were done one too many times. It became old and I felt the plot was going no where for multiple episodes. I might try and finish it later but I don’t know if I have the patience or the will.

Also, there were two annoying female characters that just about killed me with their audacity. Ridiculous.

pure sugar

If you want to watch a show that is nothing but sweetness, this is the perfect drama.
Somehow they did it just right that you can binge watch this without developing a toothache from all the sugar.
This show will bring a smile to your face without fail.
The main couple are just so perfect. Their dynamic, voices, singing, and chemistry are not forced.
The supporting characters are also really well developed and the acting overall is good.
This is definitely one I will rewatch in the future.

loved every second, not rushed

oh man. this is such a good show. evenly paced, good storyline, ending only slightly ambiguous but not completely confusing or frustrating.
ahhh
yes
this is the type of drama I love to watch.

I’m really satisfied with this drama. it’s going to be hard finding another drama to watch after this one.

ML I’ve always liked watching him in other shows. I felt like he got to really shine in this drama though.
FL I’ve only seen her as a supporting role in a modern drama so she is new to me. but oh my thread was she cute! And the chemistry! it was just so good. I would watch them again in another drama for sure.
Supporting cast were all above average, none of them sucked horribly. I don’t want to say any spoilers, so I’ll vaguely say there is this one tribulation where the supporting cast had the most fun dynamic. I wish there was more of that but alas there are only 38 episodes (half joking).

the flow was really good considering how many pieces of the story there was to complete but they did a good job doing it without being confusing. the ending didn’t feel rushed which is a big deal these days.

The Leads Made the Show

Oh boy. This show was by no means the worst I’ve ever seen but I only kept watching because I LOVED the ML and FL. They were so so so much fun to watch. There were other fun characters and really enjoyable moments in general. But the leads made it a good show.

The very end was kind of anticlimactic but I think it’s because I did not realize the whole point of the show was about this one thing (until the end). But now it makes sense. Lol!

I liked the costumes and the music.

Ps there was a whole plot they totally forgot to go back to.

Oh boy. Where to start.

Ok. To be completely fair, I knew going in that this show was not a masterpiece.
How can it when it’s about alien foxes?

The acting:
I think Victoria Song had the best performance out of the group and made this show bearable to watch imho.
Ok so I also enjoyed the dynamic between Xiaoju, Xiuxian, and Kuanyong, they also made it bearable.
Ok and the shirtless scenes of Huang Jingyu….

I will say I don’t think it was completely the actors’ fault. Doesn’t matter how good of an actor you are, you can only do so much with a bad script.

The writing:
HORRIBLE OMG SO SO SO BAD. Like I had cringe worthy moments because of the writing. And some things just did not flow at all! I am a very forgiving viewer, but oh boy, this one took the cake.

The ending:
Ok. I vaguely knew how it ended (I like to know the broad strokes but not all the details). So I knew how it “ended”, but there were still some surprises which I could kind of see the poetry behind the decision but also left me with a lot of mixed feelings.
I will say, I appreciate that this was not the most rushed ending I have ever seen. It felt kind of natural. It was also designed to imply how things end up between the FL and ML. Did I wish they gave a more detailed definitive future? Yes, but that’s more a “me” thing.

BONUS:
I appreciate that they had an implied polyamorous relationship for basically the whole show. But they had to go and ruin it with turning the two guys back into foxes meaning the girl would live the rest of her human life taking care of alien foxes in their Fox form. Like. Really?! This ending I wish was elaborated on more / made it magically different because man, I feel bad for Xiaoju.

Would I watch this again? Heck no.
Would I recommend it to anyone? Only if they were desperate.
