1. Did Huai an really kill his friend (think his name is Zhou Mo) in ep 1/2? He said killing him is saving him…
I understand they did a swap between YFS and BW midway, but I would imagine at least one of the attackers would notice the delicate stature of the stranger coming in the gate and question if it was a man, let alone YFS. But I guess with dramas, I cannot be too analytical lol
something's off. I also think it's weird Yan Feng Shan didn't kill Huai An when he saw him. And he also told his…
I'm guessing he has history with Huai An's father. He even says coming to the empty mansion reminds him of old aquaintances/friends. He even asked Huai An if he will yield. Perhaps he had no intention of killing the kids? And if Huai An gave up, he would let him go? But he literally caused the sister's death, and is now acting all respectful. Something is off. There must be something more to it.
Wait a minuteโฆso what happened to the sister was also preplanned? Seems like the emperor and GY has disappeared.…
something's off. I also think it's weird Yan Feng Shan didn't kill Huai An when he saw him. And he also told his subordinates to not touch Bai Wan's grave (almost like it was out of respect). That's weird
I wonder what happened in the past, before Huai An came back to Chang'an, to make all these distinguished individuals…
I'm surprised Yan Feng Shan didn't kill Huai An when they met. I thought it was strange that YFS told his subordinates to not touch Bai Wan's grave, like it was out of respect. But she literally died because of him. Would YFS not kill them if Huai An surrendered? They must have history, i.e. being friends with Huai An's father or something

1. Did Huai an really kill his friend (think his name is Zhou Mo) in ep 1/2? He said killing him is saving him (but somehow I see a man with a moustache lying on the rocks with Zhang Hao Ran, is that the same guy? was it a fake death?). If Zhou Mo really was killed, then can someone explain all this to me? How did Zhang Hao Ran not understand it until he read Huai an's letter?
2. How did the sister forget about Huai an, they never really explained that. I assume it was just from extreme exhaustion and trauma that she ended up adopted to a new family? I cannot believe they killed her off so quickly in ep 13. Did no one think to verify the person's identity by taking off the hat/mask first before attacking? I could tell from the get go from the build it was a woman.
3. I don't understand the old lady who guarded the village. Based on what was said, she was one of Huai an's father's first subordinates. Why did she betray him and just serve the enemy up til now. I don't see any benefit for her, and if she is so good at fighting, she shouldn't fear the enemy.
Despite some gaps/plot holes. I still enjoy it! Hope it continues with this momentum
Omgosh I am so pleased with this drama - the unexpected twists and turns, the acting, the star studded cast (veteran actors, Cheng Yi and Wuzhu from Joy of Life!) and cinematography! I hope it continues keeping me on my toes. This may just be my favourite drama of the year. However, there were some things I wanted to ask (see below)
that part was not on the novel, it's really heartbreaking, how did she had the guts to do that to him ๐ญ
Oh I didn't read the whole novel, so didn't know they had those kind of dynamics. Yeah I can't imagine how the original story would pass censorship, and even if it did, may be even more 'unacceptable'/taboo. I sympathize with his past, which explains why he grew up like that. She was the one person who was there for him when he had no one, so he naturally clung to her. But his attachment to her is technically quite unhealthy. The guy needs a lot of work and healing.

You would think that she would be mature enough to have a conversation with him, she hasn't treated him as an adult/equal. If this was all a lie just to get him on the plane, that's very cruel. I don't blame him for hating her for that.
I'm guessing they changed the story and included a breakup to create a period of separation so that LW can see the world and grow up without CJ around? So their relationship is more appropriate after the fact?
Anyone still saddened on how things played out with FYX and her bros? I know she remained good friends with Ning Fei but it is unfortunate how XWR turned out - I didnโt read the whole novel but I donโt think they had this kind of fallout. Very sad. Also sad for all of FSGโs fallen brothers.
Also, I was expecting much more from XJSโs character. He had a lot of potential as the 2ML besides the love triangle. The other characters had their development but he seemed inconsistent / wishy washy a lot of the time. Itโs hard to believe he was responsible for the death camp. I feel like they watered him down for a good chunk of the series.
Ngl I was more intrigued by FXY and XJYโs chaotic relationship than the mains toward the end. Didnโt think Iโd find it entertaining. Both so unhinged but we all knew there was no way XJY would survive given everything he has done.
Although itโs unrealistic that the court matters were left to FXY (she is an intelligent woman but has zero experience), I think we can all agree that the main leads deserve their peace. They lost so much and should just live their lives freely. They deserve the HE. Who knows, they may decide to take over if FXY hates the job, and bring prosperity to the ppl
Yes valuable lessons that impacted everyone. There is a consequence to every action taken.
Ending felt a bit meh to me but was better than some other dramas. I do understand why the emperor wanted FSG to be the heir, he is very capable and it is kind of unrealistic to leave it in the hands of the other two siblings who have no experience in court affairs. Perhaps he will take over if his sister dislikes the job, but I guess they wanted to give everyone a bigger role and better ending than what I heard about in the novel.
It is unfortunate that XJSโs character wasnโt utilized to his full potential. I heard he was not like this in the novel
Raise your hands if anybody expected that you will end up loving and rooting the most unexpected character and…
Lol itโs a twisted parallel to the main couple - who started off on the wrong foot too and had that fiesty push and pull. Definitely an unexpected couple, and surprisingly, I find them quite entertaining
FSG and FYX started strong, but I kinda lost interest in them around episode 25 or 26, when XJS, XJY, and FXYโs…
LOL ngl I kinda feel the same? Maybe because all that tension is outta the way and the main couple are solidified. But I find this is always the case when I watch romances, always fun before they become official.
Pleasant surprise to see FXYโs character evolve in this matter. Nice seeing secondary leads have bigger roles outside of their obsessive love. She and XJY are quite an entertaining duo
