i waited to say my opinion on this show till we have progressed a good portion of the story. the thing about overdo is i personally ended up reallyyy liking it, especially episode 8 upward(with the expectation of the bad plane vfx ofc). imo some of the criticisms are very fair as i will mention, but the hate was also really blown up out of proportion, after the plane scene was emboldened for obv use of bad vfx, which was fair, but judging a whole drama based on the wrong choices a production crew made in some places isn't also exactly fair. first of all i'm going to say the downsides. everyone knows about the ai opening and they changed it so that's that. the directing, especially in the first few episodes could have been really better. i don't know what yi jun was going for with the first six or seven episodes, but he didn't do well. the vfx is not okay at all, i have no idea about the exact amount budget of this show so it might be bewildering if it was really high and they did this but i have seen my fair share of bad vfx and so i just skipped it if there was no important moment and dialogue happening or just tolerated it. dubbing could have been better at times. there are overuse of bgm and that might throw some people off. some line of dialogues(very few to me) might make u side eye the show.)but that happens with me with every show so i don't know). i have seen like two short dramas, so i am not the best person to judge about that, but it really does have a fast pace, if that is what ppl mean by it. also that fast pace might leave some plotholes in terms of where did he come or things like that at times, but i didn't really care about knowing those details so it was okay for me. now that i said the downsides, i have to say despite all this, I REALLY REALLY LOVE THE STORY. i love mqy and ren susu's characterizations personally. the story picks up from episode eight in a way that leaves u waiting for the next ones. the emotional intensity of the show at some scenes are so high, which is like one of the greatest things ever to me. for some ppl it might feel like we are running in circles, but i think that's exactly the nature of susu and qingyi's lives, that when it feels everything is finally within ur reach, it slips away again and it feels like u are back to square one. the acting is really great to me. churan and linghe bring qingyi and susu's heart wrenching characters to life in a way that makes u feel the ache of everything they ever lost and ever hoped for. scenes with side characters are also really to my liking. the story about the orphanage and all these woman suffering so terribly? absolutely heartbreaking, but the way they have out everything they have on the line to end the culprits so nobody will ever suffer the same again? i srsly love it. this is not about them being cool or badass, the pain and the dark themes they portray in this drama is so intense at times regarding this that i had to just pause so many times. but standing up to every bit of their nightmares? it just got me really bad. aside from all that i think the story with qingyi is mostly just beginning and he's going to turn into an active character, not mostly reactive anymore, his backstory and all those years of abuse and trauma and still being such an outcast, but still even having it in him to fight for anything at all is beyond me. i don't think i would still be alive actually if i was in his place if im being honest. just to sum it up, i would say give this a chance, if u have it in u, go on at until the end of episode nine or ten(preferably ten). because for me? the characters and the story alone pulled up my score of 6.5 or 7ish in the first seven episodes to 8.5, that is until now.
while i said all of that, i don't have weibo anymore so i wouldn't know regarding the hate the actress involved…
i would have a debate on this and give her the benefit of the doubt but i also really don't know much about her since i have only seen her in mjty and i only know about the manager thing in that year and don't really know much about her outside this so... i hope everything turns out okay for linghe and anyone who's innocent here.
while i said all of that, i don't have weibo anymore so i wouldn't know regarding the hate the actress involved…
i do understand where the fans are coming from, since the team is not professional with their history the worry is not without cause, so i totally get that part. and i am sorry for all the rude behavior and all the names u got called, that's not fair at all and by all principles is really really wrong. nobody should be called those things. attacking u like that is not at all okay, i hope i didn't convey that message. and same for the attention, like sure i'm really happy he's reached here after all the unfair treatment and cutting out his scenes in more shows that i have the heart to count(it makes me upset every damn time) that alone speaks volumes about his ability but girl the clickbait articles and the hate train and smear campaigns are so much sometimes... i hope at least he gets more opportunities to work with great teams like the tbt one and finally get that modern role that he says in every interview he wants again if his freaking company lets him.
i hope her new drama's director is not really zrb again I HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH HIS DIRECTING... but even if it is i will tune in still since ruohan is in it at least let the ml be great JEBAL
while it's true i don't have the best impression of his x(twt) fanbases, it is actually unfair how matters related…
while i said all of that, i don't have weibo anymore so i wouldn't know regarding the hate the actress involved is getting and it's not smt i even remotely like, when rational worries and disagreements turns into anything belittling the actress or being rude and boosting one's ego or making up narratives and stories on what and why, since i'm a woman first myself then a fan, she is genuinely one of the prettiest ppl ever and is very great at acting, so i just wanted to say that. this is not her fault at all and the personal attack against her is not okay in any way. i hope both of them are free from xyr soon. THAT PERSON, IS THE REAL ENEMY HERE.
while it's true i don't have the best impression of his x(twt) fanbases, it is actually unfair how matters related to him get dragged to international spaces while for others it doesn't and sometimes it feels like ppl are starting to view his cfandom as this one special case of toxicity, while if u even dip in only a little in chinese platforms, and there are a lottttt of examples, you will see how many many cfandoms, almost everyone, have very toxic behavior at times, when they don't agree with the casting or anything like that, almost every actor or actress that has a significant foothold in the industry, has had these kind of fights with other fandoms(which i hate and is exactly why i ran away from weibo). now ppl are buying into this narrative that his fandom have been at odds with every female costar he ever had and as someone who has been following him since his not so famous days, i only remember a fight over billing between the two fandoms which was a two sided thing on both parts, and now. while i, in any way, do not excuse the hate trains that get aimed at any actors or actresses, i understand where the worry might come from since if anyone of my fav actresses has had smt like this happen to her(a recent case has happened actually), it is not that i have a personal problem with the actor involved, but it is the agency and the management team that i will be actually wary from and i really would rather have another person as her costar. most of the times the actors involved don't actually have any problems with eo and are on good terms(if their fandoms let them). tho, not at all, it warrants the hate train and rude behavior against the actor itself, because my personal belief is how in this system it's actors and actresses who are just mostly getting exploited by their agency and management team, whether they like it or not. no fandom, like no fandom, is a saint, and that doesn't mean that their behavior is okay, but the focus on him is actually upsetting, since the attention it gets and how ppl hate on him, deosn't happen when another similar case happens, not that it should. i stand to be corrected if there is anything that might be unfair or incorrect on my part.
if i think about this for one more minute i might actually drive myself crazy but no matter how much i think there was this show where the ending was that supposedly the queen dies first and then after one moth the king dies but they actually didn't die they got away or smt and like one of the side characters sees the woman on a boat or smt??! I JUST NEED TO REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS ACTUALLY IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS
