Visually Stunning, Story-Wise a Little Disappointing
I really enjoyed The Pursuit of Jade, especially the visuals, costumes, cinematography, and chemistry between the leads. The beginning was strong and made me expect a lot from the story. However, as the drama continued, some scenes started to feel repetitive. There were conflicts, misunderstandings, and separations that felt like they were being repeated instead of really moving the story forward.My biggest disappointment was the Marquis of Wan. For someone who is supposed to be a powerful and respected military figure, I expected to see much more of him on the battlefield. I wanted more fighting scenes, military strategies, leadership moments, and scenes that actually showed why he was considered such a capable commander. Instead, it sometimes felt like his character was pushed to the side because the story focused much more on the female lead. I like having a strong female lead, but I wish the drama had balanced both characters better instead of making the Marquis feel underused.
The political part also became a little messy toward the later episodes. There were many schemes, characters, and conflicts happening at the same time, while some important moments felt rushed. The drama is definitely beautiful to watch, but sometimes it felt like the production focused more on making every scene look impressive rather than strengthening the story.
Overall, I still enjoyed it, but I think it had so much more potential. With less repetitive scenes, better pacing, and more battlefield and action moments for the Marquis of Wan, this could have been a much stronger drama.

The Ahjussi Trio Really Carried This One
Agent Kim Reactivated was such an unexpectedly fun watch. I went in thinking it would be mostly action and serious ex-agent stuff, then somehow I ended up laughing way more than I expected. The trio was easily my favorite part. Seong Han-su and Park Jin-cheol constantly messing around while Agent Kim keeps that permanently serious face was just too funny. Even during tense scenes, their little comments and reactions made everything more entertaining. And for once, the comedy actually worked for me from start to finish—none of the jokes felt forced.So Ji-sub fits Agent Kim so well too. He doesn’t need exaggerated expressions or dramatic lines to look intimidating. Sometimes he just stands there and you already know somebody is about to get beaten up. 😂 I also liked that they gave him softer moments with his daughter, because it made him feel like more than just the usual cool, overpowered ex-agent character.
Seo Su-min was also a pleasant surprise. For her first supporting role, she held her own pretty well beside a cast with much more experience. She didn’t feel awkward or like the obvious newbie, which I honestly appreciated.
The drama does have some slower parts in the middle, and yes, there are scenes where logic basically leaves the building. But at some point I just stopped questioning it and enjoyed the ride. It’s not trying to be some super realistic, complicated thriller anyway.
Overall, this was the kind of drama I could just sit back and have fun with. Good action, genuinely funny moments, enough heart, and a cast that made even the ridiculous scenes enjoyable. Definitely one of those dramas I’d watch again just for the trio.
