It's so funny because it's not like TharnType that had everyone in a chokehold when it first came out, but slowly a lot of people came to hate it. Everyone pretty much called BS on this drama as soon as it ended, but somehow over the years it got a lot of apologists.

There was always a big, albeit underground, gay community in France going back as far as the 18th century, but we couldn't say that it was 'accepted'. It was certainly more tolerated than in most places in Europe at the time.
