the drama is good and all 3 characters are likable, but the romance was totally unnecessary. I don't really understand why they have to put romance in dramas like this and 'my roommate is a detective'. These kinds of dramas work better without any romance in them.
there will be a second season, it was going to be 72 ep but china has put a limit on how many ep a drama can have so they had to make the drama into a two-season show

That's what I thought too and I lowkey liked them as a cp too, even before I knew that there was a whole novel series that existed and that the author confirmed it. But from what I see and understand is that the series/dramas don't really justify wuxie and qiling's relationship, like how the books do. And I don't really know how much they follow the books or if they have made some changes for the series but there is much more happening in the books and apparently, wuxie and qiling get closer in the middle of the book series where they try together with pangzi to learn more of qilings origin.
I know, my poor qiling T~T but since the story is still ongoing I hope the author makes them official official and finds a solution for them.
Wait I might be wrong but from what I understood was that Zhang Qailing is the patriarch (the male head of the family) of the Zhang clan and that Zhang Qi Shan and Zhang Ri Shan were only leaders of mystic nine
Not sure why many hate the female lead, she was funny and put a new color to the show and she was neither a burden or slowed down the case for the two other male leads however I do agree with that the romance was unnecessary in the drama and would have been better without it.
