Ken was the driving force for me to watch Mee Piang Rak. After Ra rerng fai, I wanted to watch Ken in more new projects.. And Mee Piang Rak was the next..then again it was with Toey, tbh I was completely disappointed and upset. Didn't they get any other actress to cast opposite to Ken. What an awkward pairing, reluctant to accept.
But it came out to be a big surprise after a long wait. I thoroughly enjoyed and was mesmerized by Toey. I loved her character as Joakha. Of course Ken was as usual enchanting. Both were perfectly cast and totally fit their characters. They were so adorable together and fun to watch. I was forced to rewind and rewatch several scenes.
The supporting cast was amazing. Each of them blended well with their characters ( was surprised to know it was Cake's first lakorn...really enjoyed his surprised expressions!!). Krissie was an other gem to watch.... innocent and lovable.. They were all so sweet, funny and cute.
About the music I liked it, I am still humming the title track..
Initial plotline was quite different, the ending had some lakorn cliches but still it was an enjoyable ride. It was a light hearted, to feel good lakorn.
Rated one point higher coz of their adorable smiles (ken, toey, krissie, cake, air)...I got a lot to see ken smiling..... And that surprise act at the end..loved each of them..and Ken your moves Awwww.....!!
Highly recommended....

Gripping and dark!

This drama had me invested from the get go. Anything based on folklore traditions, urban legends, cult rituals are my pick and this is what it is based on. The plot revolves around a superstitious ritual, practiced for eons by the residents of a depopulated village Uzukawa to appease the god of the village.
The reason I was hooked from the start was the introductory section and a folk rhyme in a child’s voice. It gave that eerie feeling I was looking for. Had a peculiar, dense, uneasy atmosphere around it which I loved and also it’s cinematography.
Each actors played their characters well. But the actor who played the character of Yahagi Daisuke, it will be hard for me to imagine him as a different person.
I also loved the bgm which beautifully creates a mysterious and an uncanny aura around it..
It was short with no draggy fillers.
It was dark, weird as well as sickening.
It’s better to avoid if you are not fond of dark drama filled with uneasiness.
But if you want to experience something weird, tensed and disturbing as well, then you are up for it. I would definitely recommend this drama to them.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I usually do not rewatch thrillers, as I have already experienced all the thrills and the mystery is known. So, it’s difficult for me to rate it for rewatch value.
But for one time experience, it was quite good.

Just one word.....Beautiful!

I was just going through its ost and I couldn't hold myself from writing a review on it........
What a beautiful movie! the innocence of the first love ,,,, it's reminiscence depicted so beautifully..
The picturesque landscape of japan in winter captured so marvelously.... it was quite breathtaking and stupefying... just moves me to teleport...It was my first time to experience such an emotion while watching a movie I am crying but don't know why...It doesn't make me sad, but makes me feel warm... The feeling of missing something but not knowing what, simultaneously feeling happy relishing that feeling... the ost just pulls me back to its realm... it made me nostalgic...specifically the theme his smile is just so moving and heartwarming....
sadly was a baby when it was released... TT
I doubt it was even released in my country then!!
Hoping to experience and relive it in a theatre.....

The journey was wonderful with flight to you although it was a bumpy ride!

There are several reviews explaining the plot and the premise of this show, so I will just share why I liked this show and what prevented me from giving it a full score.

1. The entire production was top notch. The cinematography was good. I loved each and every scenes that captured the landing and taking off the plane, even though they were repetitive. The whole backdrop of the aviation industry, from the flight department to ground handling to maintenance, all looked so authentic. I am no expert in that but it felt so genuine to me.

2. Casting department did a good job. The portrayal of the characters by each actors was commendable. I felt that the role of Gu Nanting was tailored-made for Wang Kai. He was a great treat to watch here, never even once he reminded me of his any previous characters (even though there were similarities from his character in when the snail falls in love). Tan Song Yun as usual was awesome here, she beautifully brought life to the vibrant character of Cheng Xiao. Other actors whom I enjoyed watching were Yang zi Dong as song song, Shao yo qi as yuheng, Zhou qi qi as ai jia, cheng tai Shen as director xie, Wang ce as manager xu, Gary k as qiao zheng yu, cao yi as cheng Xiao’s father.

3. The character development of Yuheng was one of the best part of this drama. The growth of Yuheng was beautifully done, it didn’t feel sudden but was gradual and very natural. And I also loved the boldness of Cheng Xiao and the shyness of Gu Nanting. The presence of Song Song never bored me once, he was a delight to watch.

4. Although romance was just a subplot, the chemistry between the leads was on fire. It isn’t a usual fluff drama but it has it’s own thrills and frills. It was slow but was quite endearing. The growth of their relationship was natural. I usually don’t prefer dramas where there isn’t any gradual growth of the lead’s relationship but are fed with accidental kisses or pecks (No qualms against fast paced or one night stand tropes, I do prefer them if there is some sort of tension between the characters.) For me, even though it takes time, the sexual tension between the leads should be strong and palpable which gradually builds up and culminates into a passionate one, I am ready to wait. And flight to you was just it, even though it was quite late but worth the wait. The entire development of that particular scene was so apt and true to the both characters (won’t say much).

5. ‘Gravity’ by Liu Yu Ning (modern brothers) was another best part of this drama. It’s so beautiful and aptly reflects the feelings of Gu Nanting towards Cheng Xiao and my feelings towards this drama (even I couldn’t resist this special gravity). Well the entire soundtrack is good too.

6. My complaint is with the scriptwriter. Certain scenes were exaggerated, dragged or resolved hastily and also blending some unwanted tropes and cliches prevented me from enjoying this to my utmost level. Also the acting of Cheng Xiao’s mother fell short somewhere, I couldn’t resonate with her emotions. It has it’s flaws which hindered from being perfect. But the saviour was the director, he so exquisitely transformed the script into this spectacle and also the actors who pulled it off so elegantly, that stopped me from putting it off.

7. From my perspective, I found only one character who was was a flag bearer of male chauvinism. I didn’t find the male lead as a misogynist or a jerk, he just have some obsession with safety. He wasn’t disrespectful towards female pilots or female lead, he never questioned her skills as a pilot but just have some issues with the carefree attitude of the fl (as Tan Song Yun herself explained in her interview, that the character of Cheng Xiao was carefree as she was initially from Freight department, on being transferred to commercial flight she eventually learned with Gu Nanting the weightage and responsibilities a captain of the passenger flight bear as there is no room for negligence).

I watched this show on air, after watching the trailer I couldn’t resist myself and also Wang Kai looked damn hot in uniform. Although it has it’s shortcomings but it managed to keep me hooked to it. Tbh, I wasn’t bored even though it dragged few scenes, maybe I was just enjoying myself watching the taking off and landing of the plane or maybe the entire airport settings was interesting for me, whatever the reasons it maybe, the director once again managed to keep me glued to it. Overall, it was a good watch and I might even rewatch few episodes. I have enjoyed watching this show. It might have a heavy landing but the journey was quite awesome and exhilarating. For me, what matters the most in the end is the journey.

A good filler drama!

I would recommend watching this without drawing any comparison to its parent story midnight runners, as Japan has its own way of representing a story and also it has been extended into a drama.
It was quite a watch every weekend. The duo was good, had fun watching their comic scenes. Few cases were interesting as the story unfolds. Loved the cameos.
Still, there was something missing that failed to hit my spot. It could have been more engaging. I was quite disappointed with the ost. Most of the Japanese dramas are known to create a single ost for the entire drama that turns out to be quite awesome and just get engraved in your mind. But I wasn't happy with this case. (just my personal preference)
Rewatch value is quite low for me as I already know how the story will unfold.
Just enjoy watching Kai kun and Jiro chan...

Drunken Angel is my first Akira Kurosawa's film and also my first yakuza (members of transnational organized crime syndicates in Japan) film.... The legend also cemented himself as a director with this feature..
The movie follows a story with a beautiful moral as quoted "A rational approach is the best medicine for life." I liked the way the director used various metaphorical reflections how one can lead their way to doom or to hope.. Although, both the protagonists have flaws yet they have their own way to make you feel for them... The post war scenario, the subtle reflections of occupation of japan are beautifully captured...
The actors did a great job.. This marks the first collaboration of Akira Kurosawa and actor Mifune Toshiro...
I loved the soundtrack.... takes you back to those days.... It put me into a dreamy mood...especially the guitar section and the jungle boogie..
Don't know why but the movie felt like a poetry to me.. would love to watch again to reminsce those feels...
Finally, one down among his classics .....
Watch it to appreciate the artistry of Akira Kurosawa.....
Highly recommended!!

Sawan biang ... huh!! Well.. i have conflicting emotions... I didn't love the premise of the story but was thoroughly blown away by the phenomenal performance by Ken as Kawee. All the actors in the show pushed me to get to the finish line..
This is my first review... I am writing it coz i couldn't express my thoughts on the show by simply rating it.... i hated many characters of the story-
the lead Kawee for the unforgivable sin he committed ,
Narin's mom for how ignorant a mom can be and accepting her daughter's assaulter,
Kawee's friends for convincing Narin to accept such a person..... for me it was a bitter pill to swallow and practically which i can never accept..
But each actors played their characters so beautifully that i was glued to it.. especially Ken... I was completely taken aback by how he could evoke even a drop of sympathy in me for a character like Kawee......which is unacceptable even in fictions and in toto unimaginable .. I just fell in love with Ken and i feel no one can replicate the vulnerability of Kawee as he did.... his eyes spoke a lot..
and also Numpeung (Narin's sister) did an awesome job to portray both love and jealously towards her sister..
it's difficult to watch it again but here again i am completely dazzled by Ken and other casts...
Watch it to appreciate the acting skills of the team of Sawan biang...
P.s- This was my first drama of Ken and i am completely enchanted by him... so please watch it out.. u might also fall into his trap.....
