He was only 200plus years-old compared to his parents of 100000 or whatever years, give him a break. This is a youth xianxia story, about four very young immortals against a bunch of older and more powerful immortals. I understand your frustration but Gu Jin did not have the powers his parents had. When he ascended, he'd then immediately given up 9/10 of his power to saving his Daze clan. He had no guidance as the true god from his absent parents on how to really deal with that bunch of greedy old immortals; all he understood was three things--to protect Ah Yin from being killed, to be fair and just and to protect the realms from war (which was his Chaotic line duty). Young people make foolish mistakes. Why not young immortals? Ah Yin was only FIVE years old and some of her actions were very foolish too but we loved her like her clan brothers because she wore her heart on her sleeve. It was harder for Gu Jin to do so once he ascended as the true god because he naively thought he had to look just to get everyone on his side. He was never a wily person but he was always sincere and protective. He also knew that Ah Yin was his tribulation and would cause the destruction of Daze Mountain and thus had to do a lot of hurtful things that wasn't in his nature. I would say that Gu Jin/Yuan Qi was the most upright YOUNG immortal of them all, compared to those adults manipulating the four young friends.

As an aside, AhYin was the most generous (and giving), AhJiu was the most independent (and thus, most alone) and YunShang the most loyal.

Those were beautifully written scenes. They weren't cliched and the conversations showed how much more grown up they were now compared to their bickering (but FUN!) selves in the early episodes. But then that fun came back when Yuanqi chased after Hongli for some fox fur, bwahaha.

Yes, even Bai Jian, a goddess of 90000 chose to drink that Forget Elixie, the pain was so horrible. How much so for a little baby immortal of FIVE years that was Ah Yin?!

Yes, a Three Miles ending would have made this a perfect 11 for me!

Yes, absolutely love her! I really enjoyed those earlier episodes of their growing together as a team, running around doing their quest thing.

Xianxia tropes will always be there. It is about how epic the writer of each story could make in connection with the human condition. Sometimes the one trope can be overly done in a drama, like in Eternal Love of Dreams, when my beloved Dijun Dong Hua kept going along with that stupid 2FL requests without explaining to FengJiu, even on the day of their marriage. I was gnashing my teeth LOL.
But I thought it was cleverly done in TLI when poor AhYin was given an inferiority complex when made into a servant, she was told she was nothing over and over again by these older immortals, that she was just unworthy for a true god. She was so feisty and determined in the beginning, and the misunderstanding trope was written in masterfully to slowly erode her bright character to what we saw in that penultimate episode when she gave up and asked to be punished. That was SO UNLIKE HER that we cried for her and for what we know was going to be Gu Jin's life regret. Now, that was epic. Unlike that freaking marriage delay tactic in Eternal Love of Dreams, which almost made me lose respect for my beloved Dijun.

Yes! That too. I forgot about it. That was the final thing that pushed Ah Yin to want to die. She just couldn't believe her Ah Jin would kill her sister (whose egg was hidden there by her). That Gu Jin really really messed up here, LOL. Poor dude doing all the last minute on-the-spot saving solutions and no chance to tell any of his loved ones and friends.

Because NingYun Mountain has the magical healing waters and Ah Yin could possibly be able to heal her lost powers there. Gu Jin was trying to persuade the other immortals not to kill her. In his mind, his special pill he'd given her would give her 10,000 years life and he'd planned to make her stay in his palace. His thought was to keep her there to keep safe while he investigated Daze Mountain's disaster.

Just keep in mind that this is a youth xianxia, somewhat different from the others that always start with a very powerful ML. Our ML is only 200-400 years old and the FL is a baby hatchling (after the prologue). They are very naive and direct in their approach in life and are thus easily manipulated by the much more experienced "adult" immortals.

Secondly, the angst starts getting serious around Episode 16 and 17, coming to the epic denouement in episode 25. Many viewers who didn't like the youth-oriented theme and the ML and FL's being so "powerless" (their word, not mine) had dropped the drama around here. For those of us who love this drama, this is where we started really loving this drama.

If you are expecting Shanggu and Bai Jue-style type of power play, you won't find it in this drama. Its theme is about the ability to overcome difficulties in spite of powerful blocks (people) in the way. Wang AnYu was wonderful maintaining his gentle steadfast character, giving his all as the god of Chaos. Zhao LuSi was just fabulous, playing four facets of her character with four different voices (the baby Hatchling voice was criticized but eh...she was a baby Hatching!). Even the baddie, Hua Shu, wasn't the standard Evil Female who went around claiming the ML was hers.

All the Xianxia tropes are there but done in a such a way that emphasized the youth and naivete of the two main characters and their two friends--2ML and 2FL. I hope this answers your question and please let me know if you liked the drama! Happy drama watching!

Yes, the quarreling producer/director who left took the CGI team with him! It was a mess. That’s why when people blamed Lu Si and Yang Yang, they were so unfair. The post production was out of their hands.
Funny fact: if you look at credits, you will see a rain of knives slashing through one of the names. 😂🤣

It’s because the actress was having an affair with the director or producer’s husband. That’s why the last three episodes were so bad. The directors were quarreling and one left. The remaining director/producer removed the offending actress/maid in all her scenes 😂. The drama really suffered because of this scandal.
