I just finished ALP and also restarted TLI. There’s no overlapping stories or connections except that YuanQi…
There is a slight overlap of the love triangle of the fox aunt, her lover and the first demoness. The fox aunt was not able to go back to Hong Li's parents during that big war that killed them and that's why Hong Li was so bitter. There are other connections here and there.
I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.To the world, The Last Immortal/Shen Yin is like a water divine beast, lowly,…
Aww. A wonderful review. I'm glad you enjoyed the drama as much as (even more, I suspect!) as I did. I was here from the beginning, joining MDL for the first time after just lurking, because I wanted to talk about the drama. The scriptwriter(s) was very aware of the importance of showing both protagonists having a satisfactory communication for their end. THE BOOK DID NOT. YQ died before FY found out the truth and they never had those moments we saw. So, in spite of some weaknesses in the script, I have to applaud the writer(s) for that bit of revision.
Now that I finished it can we talk about how they did the ML dirty while writing his script, what’s with him…
LOL. It's xianxia. Suffering is one of the ingredients. Great suffering. Everything in xianxia is at Volume 11. The script followed the book pretty closely, so unless you wanted them to drastically change the hero's journey, it was about GuJin's guilt and redemption. However, if you changed the script and not follow the book, then the book fans would come after the director/scriptwriter, so...
It's not just YQ who had to suffer a crazy amount. What about Ah Yin? Darn scriptwriter threw in everything imaginable, including stuff that wasn't in the book, which was noted by viewers as too draggy during that segment. I didn't find it draggy but people just wanted to get back to getting her as the Queen Phoenix to BEAT UP ON the male lead (and others). LOL.
Anyway, a lot of times, in xianxia, the misunderstandings bring about great suffering and "deaths" to the leads. I always gear myself up for this while watching.
short screen time of devil god minqi but tbh his character here is so attractive, calming and noble evil I have…
He was one of the trie gods. He was supposed to be the one who sacrifice himself instead of Shanggu (YQ’s mother) but he said Nahhhhhhh, gonna go to devil realm and party instead, bye.
Have you watched the ending? I was wondering if we share the same interpretation that YQ finally came back? 'Coz…
Nah, YQ probably destroyed it, LOL. Some things you just have to do it with your imagination! In the novel, yes, YQ wakes a sleeping FY up because their daughter is missing and FY sleepily says she's probably off chasing a handsome immortal and YQ says, Like mother, like daughter, sigh. That's it!
Maybe, like Word of Honor and Fairy and Devil, they will give VIP an extra five minute episode to see them more.…
That's what they did. Many viewers without the VIP package didn't know this until later when someone uploaded on YouTube. If they do this, I'm sure you'll find out here :).

Yes, he came back. Their expressions say it all. Alternatively, IN THE NOVEL, YuanQi was a ghost for a thousand years, looking at FengYin, who couldn't see him. TianQi came to visit, saw him and talked to him, and he told TianQi he would have a solid body in 200 (or something like that) years. Meanwhile, Minqqi had a change of heart and gave clues to FengYin about her Fire Phoenix amulet and TADA! Happy Ending. But they didn't show this in the drama but did their best putting all the details I just mentioned and squashed them like dough and make one loaf of bread with them. So, we'll just have to accept this happy ending, unless they make us pay for an extra five minutes they'd secretly filmed....
I really love the details of everything AhYin/FengYin wore. She was so pretty in her light green "wedding" dress with all those lovely hair accessories, esp. the scene where she was admiring herself in front of the mirror. Then the FengYin wedding dress...I love her rings! She wore one at the wedding and then in other scenes, you can see another pretty one with a chain.
