it's an adaptation so they won't dare making key changes
And they shouldn't. But the reality will always be that some things don't translate well to live-action with CGI. Weirder visual concepts tend to work better in fully animated productions. There really was no way to make that clam scene look truly realistic. Even the world's best team couldn't have pulled it off. You would've had to make creative changes. Change the creature or change the behaviour of the clam. For example, have it mostly remain hidden under the sand, only partially revealing it to the audience.
12 down. This drama is, without a doubt, a really capable action adventure. It's just constantly on the go digging deeper into the mystery. You barely get time to catch your breath. Absolutely love the fact the world is like another character, charming, seducing you, and drawing you into the story (great combination of location and set). I don't know how many dramas I've seen where they waste this opportunity, and essentially casually wander around in a vast wilderness as if it was a stroll in the local park.
As for the CGI, I don't think it's any worse than the other drama airing now that I'm currently watching. The problem here, more than anything, is overuse and creative choices. If they had chosen a giant spider rather than a clam, it would've translated better on screen due to being able to create more realistic biomechanics / locomotion for a spider. The same applies to the strip of skin / flesh detaching and moving around the room. An insect-like parasite would've worked better in terms of visual representation.
On a side note... I am looking forward to the entry of the woman with the red eye. She looked cool in the trailer. Lol.
Mdl doesn't put all tags and if the drama is not mainly comedy then there's no need to add it. It's just the sound…
Comedy doesn't need to be listed under genre. But tags stating the following: "Comedic relief / Comedy element / Comedic effect," would be more helpful than "Disciple Supporting Character." FOF has the tag, it would be suitable here, too.

The cartoonish sound effects are attached to exaggerated unnatural interactions between characters. This isn't organic humour that would occur in day-to-day life. It was deliberately done for comedic effect. At 18 episodes we've passed the halfway mark, so it's safe to say comedy is a pretty sizeable component of this drama.
I hate those sound effects, feels so out place and unnecessary.😭
100% agree. Just let us enjoy the drama and cut out the childish comedy. I don't mind the odd comedic relief character. But they're simply going to the well one too many times here. Flipping between this style of comedy and serious dramatic moments disturbs the flow.
Why doesn't this drama have a comedy tag? Here we are at episode 18, and they're still persisting with an idiotic Looney Tunes style of humour complete with cartoonish sound effects.
Bro feud seems to have alot of potential so don't give up yet
I've actually never dropped a drama. The closest I came to dropping a show was TBL. But I made it over halfway and I always finish if I make it over halfway (it's my rule). Feud is better than TBL, imo. So, it's highly unlikely I will drop it. It just simply won't be a drama I fall in love with. It's alright and has aspects I really like, but it also has wasted episodes and a higher comedy component than I prefer in longer dramas (30-40 episodes). In many ways, it feels like 2025's version of FOF. Basically, I overhyped it up in my mind expecting certain things, and the reality of the drama is quite different.
8 complete. It hasn't slowed down a bit. Perfect pacing for the adventure-style genre. Always wrapping the episode up with a cliffhanger. Hopefully, it keeps it up. Having a blast tuning in each day. ARP has been stealing the show these last couple of episodes. 🥰
I think that’s the beauty of the drama - even though most of the things we were guessing turned out to be true,…
Yes, every episode was engrossing and full of tension. There wasn't a dull moment. This is one of those no-wasted space / moments types of drama. These are the kind that do 30–40 episodes with ease. The best kind.
Completed. Outstanding drama. LOZH is an instant all-time favourite for me. A drama to be watched again and again. Skilfully crafted and masterfully performed. Zang Hai is something truly special.
Humblebrag... It seems a number of my predictions came true... (1) ZZX would take his father's life. (2) ZH had been groomed and used as an instrument to kill rivals and recover artefacts. (3) The ghost army was not real, and there was another explanation for the supernatural undead soldiers. So, I guess LOZH is not completely unpredictable.
Dude is an absolute serial killer. He just collecting trophies. I won't lie though when he was down there I was…
All done. I didn't get the express as there were other shows on my watchlist starting to offset the wait for Youku to drop the final episodes of Zang Hai at the regular rate. I just stayed away from this page until completion to avoid spoilers. It seems quite a few things we discussed / predicted came true. Outstanding drama. It's the kind I'll come back to and watch again.
7 down. I'm really enjoying this on the back of Zang Hai. Great change of pace and scenery. It's good to see Youku delivering back-to-back quality after a sluggish start to the year. I've bookmarked Chen Cheng's profile page. I'm really impressed by her performance as Ping Ting. From innocent to menacing in a heartbeat. ARP's character is revealing himself to be quite fascinating and mysterious. I should have guessed it with two character identities listed next to his name. I also enjoyed the boys-squad and girls-squad interactions. This show really is a lot of fun as an adventure should be.
She's nailing her role as Ping Ting in TSROIO. Her performance is terrifying. I'm going to keep my eye on her. She's talented, and young, too (DOB ~ 2003).
Wow! Episodes 11 and 12. Now we're talking. Action and progression that's what I've been waiting for. I was worried they were going to take the minimalist approach and try to sustain the story with blood spit and tears. Never a good idea for dramas with 30–40 episodes. It looks like we've turned the corner and achieved a milestone. I'm glad. Looking forward to the next episodes. 👍😊
I loved Northward so much that I'm finally going to start watching some more domestically renowned dramas focused…
I love NW. It's a 10 / 10 drama for me. So, I've been looking for more modern life dramas, too. Coincidentally, I had also been looking for another Ren Min drama to watch after seeing her in RON. I really enjoyed her performance. I think I've stumbled across a drama that ticks both boxes. It's a 2023 Youku drama called Ray of Light. I looked into it further, and it has a Douban score of 8. It achieved the 10000 heat index on Youku. It has a rating on MDL of 8.2, and it was broadcast on CCTV-1. It stars Ren Min (obviously), and Guo Jingfei from Drifting Away (Jinmai's 2024 Light On crime drama). I've finally cleared the war comedy / drama I was watching, so I've freed up time to start watching this now. I think it's also the type of drama you're after. You might want to look it up on MDL.
