Lol. Youku posting random Ranrans on their YT account. How about posting a new drama on your app instead 🤔 ... She is lovely, though. So I gave it a like 👍

"The Legend of Zang Hai" will return to its original schedule, which is mid-May.A Tencent Video drama will air…
No problem. They are Xianxia CDs, btw... Love of the Divine Tree & Moonlight Mystique. MM actually surprised me as I hated the trailer. It represented the show as a comedy. So, I never planned to watch it. I started it late after TBL (a show I had originally been hyped for) wasn't hitting the right notes for me personally. I was probably about 12 - 15 eps behind everyone else, coming in with zero expectations. Surprisingly, I got hooked and found myself binging, trying to catch up. The comedy was minimal, the story was well paced, and intricately interwoven. My only real critique was the repetition in the way they crafted the death scenes.

Added to the watchlist. Really enjoyed RON, and I've found myself missing Ren Min on my screen. Will check in regularly for updates.

Fantastic. Thank you. My preference is to just watch this one.

Yeah, I might wait a bit longer before looking into Tencent. I've just checked all the potential rumoured to be airing drama pages and Youku still hasn't decided which one launches first. 😭 . Hurry up and give us something.

Thanks. Hopefully, they will make a decision soon. It's getting a little silly with the rumours, delays, and rescheduling. Youku has by far been the worst this year. They have plenty of great dramas in their upcoming catalogue (and they keep adding to them), but so far this year the only show I've watched on Youku is TBL, which, tbh, I really didn't like. iQIYI, by contrast, has given me five dramas (x2 costume, x1 modern romance, x1 life drama, x1 crime) that I really enjoyed. Two, in particular, I thought were outstanding. So, essentially, I'm in a Youku drought atm. A drought that seems unnecessary given the quality of show they are holding back. I'll probably add the Tencent app some time this year to offset when one of the other streaming apps goes into a strange scheduling period, like the one Youku is in now.

I actually decided to skip LIP for this (Cheng Yi is to blame 😁). It has to do with preferring to vary my watching habits (mix it up and watch different genres), so that I'm not consuming too much of the same type of drama. It's a formula that really works for me, and I don't get disappointed very often with the shows that I watch. But, after reading the comments here, I wonder if it might be necessary to watch LIP to fully enjoy S&B or can it still be enjoyed as a stand-alone drama?

Title One and Only
Completed. I enjoyed many aspects of this drama. I thought BL was quite stellar in her role. I was particularly impressed by her acting during the fever dream sequence when she experienced ML's pain. The sets and costumes were amazing. The OST was nice. The various villains gave brilliant and convincing performances. The story had many wonderful intricacies and a surprise ending.

However, there was a component of the ML's performance that bothered me a little (perhaps a lot). I bought into his deep affection for CSY and those dear to him. Had this been a modern drama, I could've indulged in the tenderness and sweet interactions playing out on screen. But, it's not, and there was a military (leader of men) element to his character.

Unfortunately, I just didn't buy it. There's typically a presence / aura that surrounds these men both in real life and on screen. They fill / dominate the space in most situations. They have an air about them that creates a belief that victory can be achieved in even the most impossible circumstances. They conjure hope where there is none. They possess a magnetism that draws men to their cause, and spurs them on to battle. While the rest of the performance was fine, this dimension to his character never manifested. He simply lacked the authentic feel and on-screen stature of an accomplished military leader. His demeanour was more that of a teacher and devoted friend. Humble and kind, but not inspiring of conquest in warfare.

Very cool. This is becoming my sneaky MOST ANTICIPATED each new clip I see.
It certainly is. It's always good for an industry to have a good balance of refining what you do well (getting better) and venturing into new territory (exploration / experimentation). It's a good sign we are seeing more of the experimentation side. True sci-fi or genre blending with sci-fi themes is something I would really love to see C-ent do more of in the modern drama space. There is just so much scope for new ideas. It's also only right considering China's place as a world leader in science and technology. I'm curious to see if they bring new perspectives. Western sci-fi, outside of space opera (science fantasy), gradually moved towards dystopian storytelling / world building. Unfortunately, it kind of got stuck there (Man vs. Machine). I think the Chinese film and television industry may take us in a different direction. I hope this show does really well, so we will see a lot more bold and unique productions over time. I can't wait for it to air.

Yes. Every now and then, something catches the eye that makes me think, "Oh, that's a bit different." Then the interest / curiosity just keeps growing and growing.

There's not a second season. Youku's recently filmed dramas have max 30 eps and they're gonna get even shorter…
I don't hate this idea. In fact, I quite like it. It should cut down the filler. If you have enough content for 40 or a second season, go for it. If not, cut the episode count.

Ok. Mid May now. Does that mean HS will air on Youku in early May?

Ok. I'm not entirely unhappy about this decision because that Sean Xiao drama is on my watchlist. So it looks…
It's all good. We should get HS after. So they'll have two good shows back to back.
