Good to hear. Hoping for fireworks 🎆 in the next few episodes 🤞. Slow-burn romances over 40 eps are actually my favourite (The Double, for example), but they just haven't been taking the small steps; instead, they've been rather stationary. Enjoying the show overall.

Love the fight / action scenes. They are some of the best I've seen. Love the costumes and make-up. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Love the world they have crafted. Deng Wei is such a handsome man. But can we please get this romance out of first gear. These two need to stop treading water. It's like a first crush type of romance. It's starting to bug me.

Side note... Ai Mi's emoting is always on point. Pleasure to watch. (Yes, I'm biased. But it doesn't make it any leass true).

Lol. I was watching some clips from her movie Break Through (2024) and it looks like she dies in that, too. She's so good at a death scenes 😭

True. It's unfortunate that many series stick to this pre-set episode total. Some dramas should be much longer or split into multiple seasons, and others should be heavily reduced to the 10 - 15 range. The dramas that have too much content to fit into 40 eps always feel rushed in parts, and the dramas that lack the necessary content always suffer from filler / story procrastination (deliberate stalling / time wasting to make the episode count). Viewers who seek a degree of escapism don't seem to mind, but if you are more of a purist who prefers an all-round quality dramatic production, getting the episode count wrong is quite bothersome.

Invest in talent. Invest in youth. Buy stock...

Saw all the promos being posted. Came in here to check for a release date in the comments. Found the countdown running at 4 days to go. A nice surprise. Looking forward to it.

You make a good point; it is something I didn't consider when making the argument for how such a project could work, both here on Liu Xueyi's page and Ai Mi's page. I didn't consider the perception of the Chinese public. I instead argued that the strict regulations in China would lead to a well-executed, thought-provoking exploration of difficult subjects and themes, with all the necessary protections for the performers involved. But you're right, China is a conservative society, and the perception of the public alone could be very damaging if they reject it.

I base my silly little rule on the fact that there was something that drove me to watch the first half. It had certain qualities or showed enough potential to persuade me to carry on to the halfway point (my point of no return). So basically, when I hit that point, I give it the benefit of the doubt until the end. It worked well a number of times, with dramas finishing strong after a slow start. In this case, it was painful, very, very painful.

I can relate. I have a rule that if I reach the halfway point of a show, I finish the show. I just finished TBL; let's just say the experience was so painful, I'm reconsidering the rule.

She's too talented to bring down with cheap smears. It's just an unfortunate part of the C-Ent industry. Competition brings out the best and worst in people. Tbf, it happens all over the world. People get so tribal around their favourites in any arena. Sometimes even to the point of putting a rival down. Healthy competition is good and only strengthens the industry. I have my favourites, but never wish for anyone to fail. Even if they are a direct rival to my favourite star.

Lol. Agreed. Many series suffer from getting their episode to content ratio wrong. If you lack the content to do 40 eps. Don't do 40 eps. DA gets it just right.

It doesn't. It just depicts them as human. Not cartoonish evil creatures from the dark realm.

Is this doing well in its domestic market? I can't watch as I don't have MGTV or NF. But I hope it's received positively for WXY & LYX.
