I didn’t expect to stumble upon this in depth debate over “Is Keita machida homophobic or if that’s just the plot & a brief review of 10Dance and the intimacy in it” in the comment section of another actor’s page who doesn’t have anything to do with them. These arguments need to be on a Reddit comment section, period.!. And I just sat here to read this replies entirely with my utmost dedication. And yk what, at the very least I’ll have to agree with @machidakeita’s pov. Even though their pfp is dedicated to the actor himself, their argument had a well base to it and was open to accept the criticism. I haven’t read the 10Dance manga myself so I can’t really vouch for my words. But I think the “lackluster kiss” his overall reluctance to intimacy all were purely intentional and felt right for the character. In my pov it has nothing to do with the actor and was entirely on script and it felt really natural for the plot. And in his previous work too (CM), yes there was no kiss, but you can’t entirely come to a conclusion that an actor is homophobic based on that fact alone. You should also consider his costar, maybe it was his reluctance. And I don’t think a homophobic actor will continue to associate himself with queer projects and promote them on his page etc. (well I can’t say he’s 100% NOT homophobic) And the 4/10 rating for 10Dance kinda hurts me since it’s one of my fav’s. I hope it’s NOT because of the whole “keita machida being homophobic” thing. Cause for me at least it was a beautiful story told through mere touches, brief kisses, intense eyes, the gradually building desire, the yearning and the sexùal tension throughout.. (which may some call edgy but I like it just like that.)
