More examples with spoilers, a lot of the “smart” actions of the FL we’re not smart and wouldn’t have worked if she didn’t have plot armour. Early on she pretended to have a ledger of her account to catch the thief servants. But the servants had really no reason to confess that quickly. They could have each claimed the others did it and claimed innocence. Logical it shouldn’t have worked so easily.
Also she still worked with that guard that she knew would betray her in the future. Yet she let him know her weaknesses and even at one point he had the incriminating Yan letter and could have easily betrayed her and got both money and letter for himself. She had no information at the time beyond what he was telling her. Hell he could have claimed whatever and got everything for himself but he didn’t for no known reasons. He always intended to play both parties yet only acted on it towards the end when he was caught vs when he had the upper hand, it logically makes no sense….
With all the FL knowledge she could have done a lot better if she was truly smart, but she didn’t and still made many mistakes.
I really wanted to like the ML, I am okay him being toxic because of his trauma. Hell I am a sucker for anti-heroes and many of my favourite dramas have them. But did they seriously had to make him treat his own son like this in the ending scenes? Like what loving father would refuse to hug him and trip him to fall twice for saying something he didn’t like… did he not learn to want to be a better dad than his own? I didn’t find these scenes cute, I found them sad. He showed more care to the kitten than his son and it was supposed be that he healed his emotional scars, he clearly didn’t.
I am a big fan of both lead actors. Been saving watching this drama for long because I wanted to save it to a long weekend to enjoy it. It’s not that I hated it, it just fell short of expectations in a big way. I was hoping something close to story of minglan. You know a very smart FL and ML. The FL wasn’t smart at all beyond relying on her knowledge of the future. Even though she knew so much about the future, she did so little with it. There were way too many unbelievable parts too. Like being a spy among the rebels yet talking loudly about your plans that anyone could sneak in to hear. At one point while plotting loudly with Zhang zhe the bad guy comes near and coughs to get their attention to come back, seriously!!?? The rebels where also loudly talking about their lord and their plans in the streets in a city under the court ruling, loud enough to be heard while riding horse backs, like WTF!!
Most of the “smart “ plot relied on luck way too much. For smart people they rolled the dice way too much when they could have just prepared better.
Also it makes no sense that the FL made it to empress in her past life. The Xue family was a lot stronger in past life after terminating most of the Yans. No way the dowager would have let her be the empress. It’s evident based on how it went in the new life how impossible that was.
There was a lot of telling the camera/audience what is going on vs showing, that’s lazy script writing. Also while I find the ML acting to be usually good and I am a fan of his, this drama has his worst acting ever. His crazy scenes were comically badly acted, like a cartoon of a crazy person. He could do a lot better than that.
If I treat it as a low budget web drama then I would give it a pass, but this one had the potential to be an amazing drama if they put more thought into it.
Dropped a little over midway, the FL acting is bad in an annoying way. I have high tolerance for bad acting if there is some charisma and/or chemistry. But there is none here. The FL has the same expression when facing her lover or when threatened with her life. The same deer in the headlight look, it got tiresome quickly. Even though she is beautiful, she lacks any charisma and has zero chemistry with the ML. It was very uncomfortable to watch
I came wanting to like this but it was incredibly boring. The ML character is unlikeable because of how he gets angry and shouting often. The FL was irritating for unknown reasons to me.
Don't get me wrong I can enjoy a good overbearing CEO trope drama but this one just lacked all the elements that make that trope work
Okay guys, I’m here to rant and vent my frustration about this drama, but before I pour out my anger and rage,…
Well said, you are not alone here. Love the lead actors, such a waste of their potential. It's ok that some love it, I certainly loved drama's that others hated before. No one should get defensive about it and attack others over their opinion.
It was incredibly boring to watch and the business part was nonsensically to anyone who knows anything about business. The kisses that I watched (dropped around eps 17) lacked any real chemistry.
I also hate female chase me trope when it's obsessive like this. The FL reasons for doing it were very immature which made it worse.
I found it very boring even when skipping many scenes and dropped it close to middle after heavy skipping. I love both lead actors and really wanted to like it but the immaturity of the relationship and the main plot was too much. I respect I am probably in the minority here and happy for those who loved it.
I picked it up again after dropping it for a few days after the stupidity got too annoying. It gets better after ep25 in term of main characters getting smarter. Still I found myself skipping a lot.

It won’t end for a while. In this xianxia, the main characters are all very very young compared to the villains.…
Thank you for the answer, I think I will drop this one. I have too much going in real life right now to deal with the added frustration from this drama
I am on ep 17, the 2FL and the “aunt” scheming is getting on my nerves. I hate misunderstanding that could have been resolved with simple critical thinking. Please tell me the stupid plot ends soon, I can’t take it anymore but I like the rest
The characters can be frustratingly stupid and are played like a fuddled by the villains ugh
your description of the ML as a wet noodle had me gagging. i love the actor, but i do agree to some degree :))…
Yeah that yu ra character or whatever it was called was super predictable and boring, totally unnecessary. Also her actions made no sense at all in the context. Like why though? Makes no sense. 2FL was crazier but her desperation made more logical sense given the situation
I think Song Ha Yoon's acting really shined in this drama as Soomin. I've seen her previous work Devilish Joy…
Couldn’t agree more! She had the best acting in the drama and the most interesting and complex character (far more than yu ra or what that one was call)
Ok so if I have to explain I will have to give you spoilers will it be ok ??
The FL goes back in time after she experience betrayal from her Husband (2ML) and her best friend (2FL). After she is back in time the FL wants the same best friend (2FL ) to merry her future husband (2ML) instead of her because he is a trash husband and she wants the 2FL to pay for her betrayal by having that fate. That’s why it’s “marry my husband “
The story is interesting, but I'm so distracted by PMY face. It looks out of porportion or is this the result…
I was distracted by how overfilled her cheeks and chin were. I don’t mind fillers when done well (you but a bit subtly better ). In this case it’s getting too much and breaking her face proportions
It was an okay watch. The FL character was fun and interesting but the ML lacked charm and had the personality…
The ML had a good nature and was so good to FL and they had a healthy relationship. Quiet characters likr the ML can be done much better than this. The ML can be reserved and hide his emotions but still remain multidimensional. The ML here is a shadow to FLs desires. He has no aspirations in life or ambition beyond making her happy. His existence in the story is for her and her only. It makes his character fall flat when it could have been much more while remaining true to his personality. This was the story of the FL redemption and a cast full of secondary characters including the ML
It was an okay watch. The FL character was fun and interesting but the ML lacked charm and had the personality of a wet noodle except in rare moments towards the end. The 2nd FL acting and performing was top notch, better than FL and hands down the most interesting and complex character in the drama. There were many plot holes and it was longer than necessary but was still okay watch
I really enjoyed this one more than I thought I could. The ML carried it for the most part. He had this way of looking at the FL that makes you believe he is smitten. His character was the most interesting one. The last arch was messy and I don’t like how they handled some of it. But still no regrets here
