Also i really liked how this version had all these subtle hints to show when exactly naoki began to harbor feelings for kotoko.
For example, whenever the two families would make a toast, you could see kotoko trying to clink her glass with naoki but him always avoiding it. Somewhere along the way (and i had to slow the video down to see it) you see naoki no longer avoid her glass and even actively clink his with hers. You can tell that is when he begins to soften towards her. There's also moments when you note that his eyes are trained on kotoko when she's not aware of it. I don't believe any other adaptation has played around with such subtleties and i liked it.
Plus in this adaptation you can actually understand why naoki fell for kotoko because exaggerated expressions aside, miki honoka is incredibly adorable as kotoko. You can sort of understand why naoki would find her endearing and hard to resist because despite retaining the "dumb" aspect of kotoko's character, miki honoka adds her own touch to make the character charming instead of annoying.
I'd argue that kotoko isnt useless or dumb because she literally accomplishes everything she puts her mind to. She just gets distracted easily. I mean if a week of training with naoki can result in her returning a professional tennis player's serve, imagine what she could achieve if she were to truly put her mind to it. She gets into nursing school, passes the exam on her own (naoki was in kobe when she was preparing for it). She gets into the top 100 chart during highschool despite being from class F. My girl ain't dumb, she just has different priorities 🤣

Well everyon was right, this is definitely better. It has a surprising amount of depth to it. The FL can be a little....jarring but I got used to it.
I think you have to reach a certain level of maturity and certain age to truly appreciate this story. The ML is not a red flag. Neither is the FL. They are just two very different individuals. One feels too little. The other feels too much. One has no trouble with expressing herself, the other has never expressed himself before he met her. They are a truly balanced pair and to see them mature from season 1 to season was a delightful experience.
I watched the anime a looooooong time ago when i was a mere teen so i dont remember it well. And even then i could not watch it in its entirety because at that time it was still airing and so it was difficult to find all episodes. But im glad they changed certain things from the anime in this live action.
Im not gonna argue with anyone who thinks the ML is awful or that the FL does not deserve him and is useless. Im just gonna tell them to maybe watch it in their later lives and see how their opinion holds. I know mine is very different from how it was when i first saw the anime

Is anyone else bothered by how mikoto was very forward in the strawberry scene? Those who have read the manga will know what i mean..she was really flustered and wasnt as chill about it as she was in the show. Girlie was blushing hard throughout this part in the manga. While here she seemed to shyly back away and then be like okay whatever no big deal..kinda bothered me.

Im curious about how the drama is doing in Japan. We usually know with kdramas but i don't know how to check how well a jdrama is doing. Mainly because if it does well, we can hope for a season 3 too

*sigh* yet another excellent drama rendered terrible because (for reasons best knows to the makers) the final episode opens up a pandora box. And there is no season 2 in sight....
Im gonna stop watching disney + and amazon prime kdramas. Because there's never a season 2 and there's never a proper a conclusion....

1) haruka should have knows from the beginning that setoka and him were not related.
2) instead of giving haruka that one cringey line "i wont forgive if you make my sister cry" that he repeats over and over again, show him as a someone who does things from the background. Like manipulating things in a way that the potential suitors are revealed in their true nature and THEN he can do the beating up etc
3) setoka can stay her boy crazy self (ive been friends with girls who ignore all warninh signs and fall for red flags so it's possible). But show the process of why she fell in love first. Red flags usually dont reveal themselves early on. They love bomb and stuff and then show their true nature. So we could see her being wooed and stuff. So that we actually sympathise with her when she is dumped since its reasonable for her to fall for them.
4) dont just end it with a confession. I expected there to be more angst around them realising their feelings. More denial on setoka's part atleast. Then have them confess. And after confession i expected there to be a little more of the "fighting for their love" scenario. I guess i wanted to see more of them as true couple facing obstacles.

I think firstly you are mixing up someone else's comment with mine. All i said was i hope someone uploads these on so and so website (wont name them this time dont worry). You are seriously mixing up comments because i said NOTHING about the subs. There's another commenter here who mentioned that the subs werent good i think you mean them.
Secondly, i dont believe my mistake merits any grovelling. Has it physically injured someone? Has it caused devastation? Please get over it and learn to be polite. I dont think i need to grovel over a mistake made due to ignorance. I have already stated it was not intentional and will be careful next time.

Also just a suggestion, not everyone is familiar with how these things work. You don't know me, i don't know you. You could have been polite about this. Everyone knows these sites exists..im sure the fansubber is aware of them as well. And if they were unaware, then i can be unaware of many things as well.

If they delay this any further, people simply arent going to be as invested anymore.
There has been a serious lack of hard core thrillers in the recent years (king of pigs is an exception but also not recent). I keep coming back to this page and it's always nothing....
I just hope the delay is so that they can get lee jin wook and jang hyuk back on board with final explosive season.

Its upsetting that there's still no news of another part...why make shows with incomplete endings?
This, Vagabond, blood free, grid and many more are excellent shows with terrible endings. People would have liked it more if the ending had wrapped things up neatly rather than hinting at a completely new storyline and then not confirming a sequel.

I will never understand the criticism this show gets here on MDL. Other than the ending, the rest of the show was an amazing fantasy drama.
But why put so much effort into a show and then leave the audience hanging? I miss the times when it was more about completing a story rather than ratings. Im sure platforms like amazon prime and netflix are earning enough that if they let shows complete their story (despite them not bringing enough revenue) it won't send them to bankruptcy. And island did pretty well for itself. I'll hold out on hope that maybe some channel will pick this up and continue the story that needs to be told.

Just imagine a van with no recollection of miho. Imagine the possibilities of the dynamic we could get to see of how he finally gets his humanity back. It's fantasy, literally anything is possible if the writer wills it.

I actually liked how there was more blush on her cheeks. It's kinda fitting for the change in dynamics between her and sensei. And it adds more colour to her which makes her look prettier.
I liked season 1 ost better though, agree with you there. They could have honestly reused it or tweaked it slightly.
Im not sure if you are familiar with the korean drama Voice but all seasons of that show have the same ost but they tweaked it slightly. Like season 1 is supposed to be on the sadder side so the ost is mellow and the season 3 is the darkest so its the same ost but full rock with growls and stuff. They could have done something like that with season one's ost (i dont necessarily mean make a rock version but you get the gist)
