yeah, in rl it might be wise to marry someone like Jing, but only after you had your FUN with someone like XiangLiu…
This. I let my "Jing" get away because I was having too much fun with my FFB. Now I'm drinking buddies with lots of "Fenglongs." LOL

I didnt think he died. There was probably an assasination attempt but was averted because HBY helped.
You're probably right. The (English) subtitles can be confusing sometimes. I concluded he was killed because I didn't see him during the wedding banquet, the birth of his grandchild, and for the rest of the episodes.

The carriage itself, at least they should have make a fake LJT falling down or anything. When the carriage crushed,…
Haha. True. Instead of showing the horse struggling, they should have shown LJT's last moments in the carriage.

The horse falling is just a prop.(not a real alive horse)Please see the ending credit in ep 53
I know. I am aware it's CGI. But the scene still makes me uncomfortable.

I didn’t catch the death of Qiqi’s father! I need to rewatch episode 52.
Fei reported to the emperor that Gen. Wan was assassinated and HBY tried to rescue him. I'm a bit confused though if Wan really died. I assumed it because I didn't see him during the wedding banquet. And he never appeared again.

I always rewatch the following two episodes.

Episode 52: Loved the montage. The five years condensed into eight minutes was satisfying.

Sad that the death of Qiqi's father was only mentioned briefly.

The couple being miserable apart and still being miserable together was acted beautifully.

Episode 53: I skip the part where the horse and carriage fall off the cliff. I know it's CGI, but I still feel sorry for the horse.

Good thing I watch this alone, I still cry buckets during the last minutes of Empress Xuan.

In imaginary drama life~No. But in real life~Yes. He's lowkey psychopath, sweet but still a psychopath
Yes. In real life, guys like HBY are obssessive and possessive. They get triggered by (and may get violent because of) little things such as another guy glancing at their girlfriend or their girlfriend smiling too much at another guy.
And yeah, the "lying to protect the girl" doesn't work anymore.

I have a question please. That scene where the Empress questioned the injured HBY (fresh from being rescued from…
I think the empress--as a last effort to save the relationship--was hoping that HBY will deny his intention to abandon CSS and will voice his regrets.

CSS has major abandonment issues. She not only forgave but also understood him for lying to her, keeping secrets from her, and even using her as a cover. But she explicitly expressed that abandoning her was unforgivable.

She was ready to die with him. She probably would have died had 3rd prince not arrived and announced that HBY was still alive.

It's not surprising she built a wall around her heart, making her seem cold and unfeeling.

Did anyone notice how Wang Ling completely adjusted to married life?! Coming to check on Peng Kun in the middle…
For a second, I was happy for her because it seemed Peng Kun was a good husband to her. Now I'm worried that she would also be punished because of his crimes.

So true! YS is a worthy suitor. In a way, he is like Jane Austen's Darcy. CSS is so lucky to have 3 good guys…
Same here!
You are right! YS is like Knightley as well. And LBY reminds me a bit of the Brontes' Heathcliff and Rochester. Too bad Ayao is the type of male lead who rarely gets the girl.

I’m just gonna say it and y’all can hate me for it if you want but I have a soft spot for Yuan Shen. Always…
So true! YS is a worthy suitor. In a way, he is like Jane Austen's Darcy.

CSS is so lucky to have 3 good guys that love her -- one she can play games and dream with, one she can have interesting conversations and fun debates with, and one she can solve mysteries and fight with.

Of course, these 3 guys are lucky as well, CSS brought light to their lives.

It's not her letting go of him but the other way around. Throughout the drama & novel LBY has been pushing CSS…
You're welcome. It's just a guess though. But I'm pretty sure next week LBY will be back, because they still have to solve one more mystery together. And crossing my fingers that their wedding will be included.

Hey team, I’m extremely confused by all the politics going on and the scheming, can someone please shed some…
I'm a bit confused as well. But what I know is that --

Lou Ben is Ayao's (CSS 1st boyfriend) older brother. Ben is very smart and secretly very ambitious. He was always discouraged by his uncle, Grand Tutor Lou, to seek office/take court position. He orchestrated the whole thing about Shouchon and Tongniu, so he could come out the hero and get a high position (I guess to become governor for starters). The other characters were merely his pawns. He killed them off to leave no trace of his scheme.

I may be wrong. I only read the Google translate version of the novel.
