Wow this has got to be one of the best BL show I have watched so far! The whole thing was made so beautifully but most importantly it had a strong emotional core which can be lacking in BL dramas. I am also so relieved that the director changed the "voluntarily dating rapist" plotline, which I found really disturbing in the novel and was apprehensive how it would be handled in the drama. The end result really elevated the drama to the next level so big kudos to the director and also kudos the talented actors and their chemistry! I also really appreciate that the drama didn't have secondary or third BL couples and only focused on the main BL couple! Just because it's a BL show doesn't mean everyone else in it is gay too, although that second last after credits scene was hilarious :D
Btw, did anyone notice that the umbrella that Zhen Xin asked his manager to bring the movie premiere is the same umbrella prop that Zhang Zhun was using to shield himself when he was eating in the rain on the set of the costume drama they were both in (the manager took Zhang Zhun's umbrella to cover Zhen Xin and it was also when Zhen Xin first noticed Zhang Zhun)? That added detail in the drama is so symbolic and represents the depth of Zhen Xin's feelings for Zhang Zhun. I'm also glad that the drama showed Zhang Zhun really taking time to reflect on his feelings for Zhen Xin and also realizing that Zhen Xin's feelings for him is genuine, he's always been afraid that their feelings were not real due to being too immersed in their roles.
Can anyone translate the written message by the director at the end? I couldn't find a translation for it and my Chinese is not good enough to read it unfortunately
Hi! I read somewhere that the official Youtube channel is supposedly going to release uncut episodes starting with episode 5 and onwards from monday next week. Does anyone know if it's true or just some kind of misunderstanding?
OMG I just have to say I loved this show and is still obsessing about it. It was everything that Imitation was not (too much fluff and barely scratching the surface of the dark) and I really liked how raw, dark and realistic it was. For once I think 12 episodes were too short and the normal 16 episodes would have fleshed out some of the themes that the show tried to tackle (especially the one about Stella). Writing, directing and acting were excellent in overall, no one stuck out like a sore thumb in terms of acting (although Ji Han actor can definitely improve lol). I also don't mind that there was no direct romance although I shipped Jenna with the CEO. I still feel sad and upset at how underrated this show was and how bad the live viewer ratings were (Hani said in interview afterwards that it felt like she put her scars out there and no one cared, that was so sad to read), and I feel that it was partly JTBC's fault for barely promoting the show before it aired. I knew more about Imitiation before it aired and had no idea what to expect from Idol, it was pure luck that I checked it out from pure boredom. I'm so happy I didn't miss this gem of a show, it's crazy how much I miss it since it ended.
