later on the novel other drama there's a purebred German Shepherd who lived through multiple generations of the Wu family named Xiao Mange who protects and travels with WuXie that eventually passes away due to old age. Xiao Mange (sometimes called "Fourth Uncle" by the family due to his seniority) was originally given to Wu Xie by his grandfather. While Xiao Mange is often kept at the family property or looked after by Wu Xie's second uncle (Wu Erbai) when Wu Xie is away on his dangerous expeditions, the German Shepherd is explicitly used by Wu Xie in later arcs (like Sand Sea) to track scents and guard against threats like the Black Flyers. Wu Xie’s third uncle (Wu Sanxing) and second uncle inherited the underground networks and operational dangers of the family business, whereas Wu Xie started as an outsider to it all before getting dragged into the chaos later in life.

Wuxie always had it in him which we see develop later on but his genetics can't help but keep him going back to the dangerous tomb hunting life

I know they're setting up a romance for Huo Xian Gu and Wu Lao Gu but I'm wondering if his actual wife will make a cameo because we know they don't end up together

from what I recall his family wanted him to grow up normal/safe esp his other uncles but the nine gates wanted to groom him to become the next leader but this wasn't until later on they started to test him to see if he's worthy of being the next leader (it has been years since I read the novel and all the adaptions is starting to blur for me)

from clips I've seen he sounds kind of muffled to me? like he's not pronouncing the words clearly and not a lot of emotions/intonations like he sounds kind of flat if that make sense

genuinely confused on if he started liking the princess because he started thinking about her in flashbacks + started going out of his way to find her/help until he decided to turn on her

in another life sweet child chengyang wouldn't be born into an imperial family, even as sweet as he was he still choose to stick to his beliefs and didn't let those around him mould or change his opinions on matters he believed in

I love the bond between siuge and chengyang even after all they've been through they know that both of them are just victims of their circumstances and didn't want another generations of hatred and animosity to breed

in the original source apparently chengyang was never evil and had people investigate the matter about his father death becuase he never believed his brother could do something like this and ended up being a monk, I hope they keep his character good

ding jia wen is such a cutie and has great acting skills but I feel like he has been getting type casted in a lot of similar roles I hope he's able to branch out to darker roles/a different type of character

idk if you read the novel but panzi was one of my fav character and bond with wuxie till the very end he was so loyal to wuxie (the had such a father and son relationship) it breaks my heart even more if this is how wuxie was like when he thought he lost him I can't imagine the pain later on in the novel even reassuring him till the very end

no worries!! I remember being sooo disappointed back in the days that's why I'm so pleasantly surprised that after 10 years we're finally getting a remake

a lot of people wanted the UN cast (and a lot of them were willing at the time to sign on for another season/take a cut in their pay) to also take over and remake the series too because of how close it was to the book/how good it was because a lot of people weren't expecting a lot and from what I heard too (this part could also be wrong but apparently xulei was lowkey cheesed that people really liked it compared to some of the adaption he had a hand in)

the biggest difference too is that they basically took a lot of creative liberties and changed a lot of the characters/introduce a lot of later plots in the novels into season one (as they were meant to film for 10 years; might be wrong about the year it could have been 7; it's been a while), then there was drama between yangyang production team and the studio so they basically edited out a lot of YY's scenes which is why the drama feels very choppy and unedited and you can still find some photos of YY in different attires/film sets but not shown in the series which sucks because it had soooo much potential but I'm so glad they decided to remake
