Started watching dramas in mid 2017 (thank you, Netflix)!

This year (2023) my goal is to finish or drop a LOT of the dramas that have been languishing in my "oh hold" or "currently watching" list. I need to clean it up a bit, haha.  I am not actively watching all of those dramas... If I could see the add date on some of these shows, I think a handful have been left unfinished for over 2 or 3 years! I am getting much better at dropping or skipping/ffing in dramas now, though.  Mostly because the sheer number of available dramas is overwhelming & I don't want to waste what time I have available on anything I am losing interest in.

I've found what tickles my fancy, though.  Oddly enough, it's the romantic comedy time travel fantasy c-dramas, lol. Wuxia, too, if I can get it. ;p  In manga/anime/etc I guessed it's called isekai--where a "normal" character enters another world or dimension or reality--and since I LOVE sci-fantasy, bring it on...  Who'd a thunk it?  I feel blessed that this is what the Chinese viewer wants, too, which means more of them have been coming out for me to watch, yippee.  Even though k-dramas generally have better production quality, film directing, actors and OSTs, sometimes they lack the relationship/story chemistry to sell it for me.  My main gripe?  I just HATE  the Mandarin female voice dubbing in c-dramas when they try to sound like whiny little girls.

My first drama was My Only Love Song in the summer of 2017 and I was attracted to it because of the time travel theme. (That's my jam!)  It didn't take itself too seriously, which is also what I like.  (Life gets heavy; dramas lighten it up for me.) The romantic leads were together for most of the drama -- with a funny supporting ensemble and great chemistry -- so I was able to get to know them together as a couple.  (I like predominately romance-centered dramas where I can watch the couple interact for most of the time; large sprawling casts or stories without romance lines are still enjoyable but not my bread and butter dramas.). The FL was super spunky and a little bratty to the ML but they grew on each other through bickering and cute chemistry. (Another preference as well, I discovered. It's the Beatrice&Benedict or Elizabeth&Darcy hate-to-love idea that does it for me. To me, this happens when strong personalities are a little too alike in certain respects and end up rubbing each other the wrong way until, well, they start rubbing each other the right way, haha.  Fun stuff!) I would recommend it but it targets a teenage audience so it's a little young-ish.

I'm trying to get better at writing reviews but mostly, I'm just out commenting on the dramas I've been watching.
