This is one of those episodes where I think Baek-Du's personality got in the way a bit. I love his guilelessness and his childlike approach to life, but that child-likeness can be a bit of a problem. He's oblivious to so many things, and in this episode, it's the rumours about him and Du-Sik. As far as the villagers know, Oh Ju Gyeong (Du Sik) is married, and she's a bit too close to Baek-Du.Sometimes, Baek-Du seems like a middle-schooler in a 31-year-old's body. In some respects, he is still that little boy running, with tears down his face, after the truck that took his best friend away from him one day at the crack of dawn. After Du-Sik left, he lost interest in the things he used to enjoy, especially things he used to enjoy with her. This includes Ssireum, and that explains why he's never won a championship since middle school. Baek-Du is not the best at playing things cool. He's in love with Du-Sik and anyone with eyes can see that. On one hand, Du-Sik's investigation may be compromised if her identity is revealed. On the other hand, who can convince Baek-Du to stay away from her to stop the rumors from spreading? I guess only Du-Sik can. And she may have to, if there's any hope of completing the mission successfully.
