One one hand, I wish Xia Meng would pick characters in historical costume dramas that had a happy ending, but…
Some of the spoilers can be wrong, so we have to work out what is happening. I managed to get one spoiler detail correct about the "Tower Of Whispers" mini-drama (which just finished airing for IQiyi VIP members) and it was critical in affecting the final 3 episodes, so here's what I think will be happening for Fated Hearts. "Fact of the drama" refers to a future event that hasn't happened, but should happen based on the actual scenes that were shot according to BTS:
After marriage, Xiyang likely helped Xia Jingshi escape Susha Kingdom to return to Jinxiu in order to prevent his brother from removing the military power from him. She becomes disillusioned living with Xia Jingshi after she left Susha Kingdom with him, because he has no love for her and he even slaps her in the face at one point (fact of the drama).
At some point, Xiyang divorces Xia Jingshi (fact of the drama). We know Feng Suige needs to find the high-ranking traitor in Susha Kingdom who colluded with someone in Jinxiu Kingdom, so I don't know how Feng Suige survives being stabbed in the back but he will, since the novel has a HE ending and the writers clearly won't screw this up when they have improved the novel plotlines and subplots significantly for a drama.
Xia Jingshi's brother Emperor Xia Jingyan is not a good guy (fact of the drama). He grabbed Xiyang's hands at one point and forcibly pushed them down into what appears to be thorny vines (fact of the drama). If Xiyang actually marries Xia Jingyan, then either Xiyang was tricked by Xia Jingyan or Xiyang thought doing so would be a way of getting back at Xia Jingshi, especially if she thinks her brother was murdered by traitors in Susha colluding with Jinxiu. We have seen that Xiyang is not a very smart woman because she is too sheltered.
Whether or not Xiyang marries Xia Jingyan, she is wounded badly by a sword, most likely when her brother and Yixiao go to Jinxiu Kingdom to find her. There is enough drama spoiler going around of Feng Xiyang being carried by Feng Suige (fact of the drama), whereby either Xiyang will die or Xiyang lives but loses a baby she is pregnant with. Frankly, I would prefer the not-yet-confirmed spoilers to be wrong and just let Xiyang live without losing a baby.
If they keep Xia Jingshi as he was in the novel in one fundamental aspect, it would not be possible for him to have a child. That's enough speculation. Will let the drama unfurl.
This is the full OST of this drama《赴山海》 including instrumentals, spanning at least 57 minutes. Courtesy of xiaoxiao365 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iJMpWwUXdo ) The tracklist which I C-and-Ped below, is as follows:
One one hand, I wish Xia Meng would pick characters in historical costume dramas that had a happy ending, but…
Take this "spoiler" with a pinch of salt, in terms of what Feng Xiyang is supposed to do in the later episodes of the drama:
After she learns her brother was murdered and finds out Yixiao was nearly assassinated, she realises Xia Jingshi's true nature. In order to take revenge, she divorces Xia Jingshi and marries Xia Jingyan. In the process, she develops feelings for Xia Jingyan and carries his child.
However, I don't know how this is going to square with another spoiler about what happens to her after that, when Feng Suige and Yixiao try to enter Jingxiu Kingdom.
We know Feng Suige was assassinated from the back in the drama while fighting the Prime Minister (most likely by Murong Yao), and then dumped into a ready pit and buried.
Ning Fei is the real brother. The other two are 🤬🤬🤬
Xia Jingshi's backstory is more tragic in the novel, but not in this drama this far. If you want to know what happens to Princess Xiyang and thoughts on Xia Jingshi (novel versus drama), I shared some thoughts and details in a comment (with spoiler tag included):
Ning Fei is the real brother. The other two are 🤬🤬🤬
In the novel, Ning Fei and Ling Xueying are a couple. But the plot and characterisation is different for the drama, so it will be interesting to see if they make it happen here.
There are one of two options you can consider for enabling BTS to be found much quicker on this drama page, given how comments will accumulate:
# Possibly start with one comment such as [Date] [Title] [Actors and Actresses in this post for Reuters] and then the next comment is a reply to your original comment containing the necessary BTS.
# For earlier already-posted Reuters, an option is to reply to the summary you have compiled, and leave a statement that the above is [Date] [Title] [Actors and Actresses in this post]
How are the main leads here compared to the novel? Do they have a HE
When Feng Suige becomes king, Yixiao becomes the first commoner-queen in the history of Susha Kingdom. I'm sure Feng Suige wouldn't take any concubines. He has a son from Yixiao and I doubt he would want an accident to happen.
One one hand, I wish Xia Meng would pick characters in historical costume dramas that had a happy ending, but…
I hope not, as in I hope Xiyang will not fall for the Jinxiu Emperor. The emperor of Jinxiu Kingdom is not a good guy in the novel. Unless he somehow becomes wholly reformed because of Xiyang in this drama, I doubt it.
One one hand, I wish Xia Meng would pick characters in historical costume dramas that had a happy ending, but…
Xiyang dies. They made the Jinxiu Kingdom emperor here as brother of XJS, when in the novel the emperor was XJS's father. In the novel, Xiyang rejects the moves made by the emperor towards her.
How are the main leads here compared to the novel? Do they have a HE
HE for the leads in the novel. Understandably, there are changes in the script for the drama. When it came to the torture scenes in episode 2, in the novel Fu Yixiao deliberately provoked the guard and wanted him to whip her to death. Yixiao can be quite savage and shock others including Feng Suige, but I can see why the example to showcase this in the novel isn't going to appear in the drama.
ML and FL are better developed in the drama than the novel which in some aspects, the novel is a mess.
Thoughts about two characters in the novel versus the drama (next comment about Princess Xiyang and Xia Jingshi…
One one hand, I wish Xia Meng would pick characters in historical costume dramas that had a happy ending, but maybe this drama will hopefully give Princess Xiyang a happier ending than the novel. Princess Xiyang over 12 episodes looks to be more interesting than the novel version, because the Directors in the storytelling have shown that even the supporting cast is not one-dimensional.
She is naive due to being very sheltered and hence unrealistic about love. She needs to see a person as a person, and not put them on a pedestal. Due to this perspective, she is very protective of Xia Jingshi even in a loveless marriage, up until the point where (drama-wise) I think she gives him a divorce letter.
Novel version of Xia Jingshi is an interesting character to me. It is sad that many of his choices are driven by circumstances beyond his control, especially a personal issue that he did not disclose to Yixiao. Not wanting Yixiao to continue loving him, he makes certain choices. And yet, he realises too late that his heart is full of only her, and he cannot love another.
He loves Yixiao to the extent that he can write a very long letter to Feng Suige disclosing little details about Yixiao's habits and likes and dislikes. I'm wondering if they will keep all the characteristics of him from the novel in this drama. What happened to him in the novel is the happiest ending he could get, and I hope it's the same ending for him in this drama.
The General in Shadow love was convincing in attitude. Not the other one.In this drama, FL is also convincing,…
Li Qin suits strong female roles but IDK why she seems to sometimes pick roles that don't suit her (maybe it's the agency). The moment I saw strong female general and her = AHA mental green light.
And I must say, she is making this role far more appealing than the novel version of Fu Yixiao
I shared Coroner's Diary OST with BGM more than 3 months ago, from their account (if you want to see another example): https://mydramalist.com/752181-chao-xue-lu#comment-22698968
