I’m really curious about episode 40’s teaser. What child is LJQ referring to?

I don’t particularly think it will be a huge revenge plot against the Lin family. I do think that the whole tragedy definitely has someone who was starring the pot in the background *cough* *cough* Zhao family *cough*. Based on what the Lin grandfather said in ep 1, those memorials were written a while ago and it was told to the emperor by someone. That person is the real VILLIAN in my opinion.

Also the emperor did wrong the Shen family. Fine, you’re angry at grandpa Shen, then kill him and make his sons retire from government, hell exile all of them. I hope he spends his last days regretting his actions and this tragedy haunts him. Those poor women in that room that day really broke my heart.

That’s not what the initial comment was about. No one said that they are nobodies.we all watched the preview for the upcoming episodes, I assume that’s why the comment was made.

I think the initial commenter @minki4 was saying it in a smh kind of way and not trying to be classist. No one is saying she can’t marry him just because they are poor, the way it seems she’s trying to go about it is what is wrong. She’s clearly trying to trap him in a situation using that flower at the banquet that would make him seem ungrateful if he doesn’t end up marrying her.

I agree with you, I find it very annoying when they cast a young actor/actress for a very serious role and they can’t emotionally carry that role. I don’t mind his face at all, it doesn’t look old, I think ppl should focus on the storyline and not people’s faces. Also like someone said, he’s a general and has gone through a lot at his young age, he seems to be the one holding up his family, that’s no easy fit and it would realistically age anyone irl.

He’s 24 now, in the beginning Shen Julian’s mom said in 2 years he’ll be 20, but it’s been 6 years since that statement so he’s 24 rn.

Hi, I actually read the whole novel, three times now, I find that the show is actually very close to the novel. A lot of things have subtly changed but the main ideas still remain. I would say about the first 100 chapters of the novel was more of setting up the groundwork for the main characters, so if you only read 31 chapters you wouldn’t be able to see any similarities the show has to the novel.

I also like how realistic her reactions are to situations. Given what she’s survived, it’s obvious she won’t be jumping on anyone’s chopping block if given the choice any time soon.
