This series is not what I expected. I wasn’t expecting something with a story line. I thought it’s all romance, which I disliked. I was surprised how deep the plot is. It’s an eye-opener for me because it’s in a very world. I specially like how they used the new generations to contradict the amoral aged-old traditions of the elder generations in doing things, which to the elders are the norms. I hope the new China today, which composed of many spoiled brats could open their eyes and see how the world is changing and not accepting their shameful behavior. I truly hoped that there truly are young people who uphold values in their life. This is like a revelation to the world that Chinese young generation still have hope. I specially like the twist of the male lead love affair. I pitied him and yet he still doesn’t want to be in the old world. Truly admirable even if it’s just reel. I like the 2 lead stars chemistry, they’re so believable and you could feel the love between them. Real news has it they’re a couple. Happy for them. I like Lou Jin bec he can be serious and hopeless romantic and funny. The only time I cringed is hearing them speaking English with so much effort. It’s not believable to study in an Ivy League school if you’re speaking like a beginner. Should have someone dubbed it for them. You could see they’re memorizing rather than acting. Overall I like this series. My mandarin has improved a lot by repeatedly watching it.
