For Yuanzhou and Yichen shippers, did you even notice that the final lyrics of Yuanzhou's theme song is actually the final scene of the drama? Quite literally and metaphorically at the same time. Yeah, that's really... how else should I think about this scene?
OK, so maybe some of you will not like it so i put spoliler. And as well, it is obviously a me thing, i know it…
Btw, seeing you as a Yuanzhou and Yichen shipper, I will say there are a lot of scenes throughout the drama that can be interpreted differently if you haven't noticed already. I didn't notice this on my first watch, but once I rewatched it? Oh, there's a lot of scenes out there which you can interpret it as the BL version instead of the BG version. As the delulu and Yuanyi shipper I am, I like to think of it as the BL version xD. I can even share some!
When Wen Xiao was in the middle of the two of them, while he does look concerned for Wen Xiao at first, tell me why his focus was on Yichen? Shouldn't he be more worried for Wen Xiao by focusing on her? But instead, he's more fixated on Yichen who is fixated on Wen Xiao. https://x.com/dramaticath/status/1874388136400412716
That scene when Yuanzhou was with Wen Xiao but then suddenly thinking about what Zhao Wan'er once told him, "I know I can't persuade you, but I believe that one day you'll meet the person who makes you want to live." At first, it may seem like it's about Wen Xiao bc Wen Xiao is right next to him as he thinks this, but at this moment, it's not that he was thinking about Yichen. It was more of a foreshadowing that Yichen would actually be that person. Btw, as I described this scenario to ChatGPT (yes, I talked to ChatGPT a lot about Fangs of Fortune back then), this is brief part of what they gave me:
"The person Zhao Wan'erβs words likely refer to, "the person who makes [Yuanzhou] want to live," seems to be Yichen. Here's why:
Transition to Yichen: The immediate transition from Yuanzhouβs reflective moment to Yichen practicing sword fighting strongly connects the two. The editing choice subtly implies that Yichen is central to Yuanzhou's thoughts and emotional struggles...
While Yuanzhou might not consciously recognize it yet, all signs point to Yichen being the person Zhao Wanβer foresawβthe one who could stir hope and meaning in Yuanzhouβs life amidst his struggles." https://x.com/dramaticath/status/1853204809039622173

Actually, after reading this and all your replies to Celestia, I have to say I felt exactly just like you when this was airing last year. Ngl, I still do in a way. It would have been super interesting if they actually had no couple in the drama so that it felt like we were shipping anyone together more freely, yk? I think that's one thing I liked more about the first half of the drama: no romance btw the characters whatsoever, which I remember at the time making a comment, "At this point, I don't want romance in this." And it's bc I was really enjoying the drama without any romance whatsoever. And yep... That ended up being the case... where I wasn't enjoying the romance when it began to show. I think it's bc in some way, the way they added in the romance felt imbalanced and forced? I'm not saying they don't love each other, but before that scene where they kind of both show they like each other, I legit saw no feelings btw the two of them. I think the timing was just off? Idk how to explain it. It felt all of a sudden. Even after my rewatch, I felt the same. But the good thing is I didn't feel as worse of her being a FL as I did on my first watch. But I still feel an imbalance in the relationship bc of how it was written and done. So no, you're not spoiling the mood. You have your own opinion, and some might even share the same feelings as you too. You are not alone. We can be free to discuss how we feel.
You are also right about how they would never make a BL couple happen. It's bc of censorship they wouldn't make them an official pairing. But imo, based off of what the director and writer showed us, I can happily say they are the end game. I will not spoil it for you, but I will say the very last scene is about Yuanzhou and Yichen. No one else. That's all. It's not surprising we ship these two also, bc the director likes to put BL elements in his dramas, so I think there's that. But in the drama itself, I view it more like they are soulmates, and the aftermath is they really are end game. My take. I am curious what your take will be once you finish this drama, which I am excited for you. There's gonna be so many more beautiful moments btw the male leads which will be no joke.
But anyways, idec for any romance at all in this drama. I felt it would've made the drama even more perfect than it is with all these balanced ships we can pair with no sound of mind. I am so sorry, bc just like you, the more I think about it, the worse it feels lol. Just like my sister said, I guess it's best not to think about it too much. I am also like you who didn't skip any scenes, but there are certain scenes of the lead cp that I'd be willing to skip now that I watched it already bc there are some I, ngl, feel like not rewatching. But I will say there's not a lot of romance, so I think you'll still be able to enjoy the drama thoroughly like many of us, even Yuanzhou and Yichen shippers!
ππππ I love how i can easily imagine so many ships in this without problem. Maybe i am brainwashed…
Lmaooo you talked about those two omg π π Well there are rumors *rumors* that Bai Jiu was supposed to be played by someone older like maybe 18+ but they went with Lin Ziye who is very young so we don't ship them (for censorship). Idk how accurate it is tho. But I'd like to think that he wants to be seen as his best big brother but is a little jealous bc Yichen is that one big brother for him, which is pretty cute and sad, but I love how much love and care he shows towards him! These two have my heart~ One of my favorite duos π₯Ήπ
I like how their are at least 3 characters that seem more like a FL than the actual FL.. lol
Frr haha and I think the main FL is technically Mo Caihuan at least in this season, which is the only one I ship him with so far (tho I can see it's likely not meant to be sadly huhu)
I swear the 3FL is THE FL this season... not the actual FL... If she's a FL in the future, why not just put her as a FL in a different season lol... the billing order is misleading tbh haha... Bc there really ain't no romance with the FL at all, only she seems to be so caught up with him (which I'm ngl feels off about her character)
I'm gonna keep this short (welp, that didn't end up short prob bc I'm too obsessed with ZYZ x ZYC XDDD - writing…
Yess just as she said (she's my twin sister btw), there were scenes that felt like a marriage btw the male leads! ACTUALLY, one scene, they kinda sorta make a marriage vow together, the next scene after that, it feels like they have a marriage ceremony (one that is unique for weddings in China)... hahaha yeah, my interpretations are crazy SKFJDSKFJS
Ok, how is the relation ship between the two main male leads in the second half?I am still processing the mentions…
Here's one of many interpretations of love for the drama π₯° And this is someone who only ships ML and SML π But anyways, you can make your own interpretations of the drama π
ok, knowledge Q - i could theoretically search but as i have too many things to do i would definitelly not enjoy…
Every one of them, and I mean ALL eight of the young cast:
Neo Hou, Tian Jiarui, Chen Duling, Cheng Xiao & Lai Weiming, Lin Ziye, Xu Zhenxuan, Yanan! They all have their own OST! https://open.spotify.com/album/5yTkbdqga3E9xVgJR4NsuF?si=0v39ZcDAT_KiyRAGb71_2Q (Starting from the 6th song and down is in order of who sings what) Last song is the group song where all eight of them sing π₯°
Cheng Xiao and Lai Weiming, the Pei siblings, are the only ones with an actual duo for their theme song which makes sense bc omg these two siblings really... π₯Ί Every one of the rest sing their own OSTs. All are sooo good! I can never get enough of their songs!
Yk what's so special about this OST compared to others? Literally every one of the main eight really sing their own theme songs, including a group song, and I don't think ANY other drama has so far done that!
Ok, how is the relation ship between the two main male leads in the second half?I am still processing the mentions…
There was this person on here (sadly she's deactivated rn) and me and her would literally write paragraphs to each other about the male leads, no kidding ππ You gotta watch the second half bc omggg the chemistry is even greater in it! First half, they feel like they flirt a lot (like in the beginning of a relationship) but then grow even closer and have a deeper relationship in the second half! YOU WILL LOVE THEM A LOT, CRY AND GET EMOTIONAL FOR THEM, AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP!! They are so end game for me! The last scene lowkey feels like they indicate it too π€ And there was this one scene that literally felt like a confession! I don't wanna ruin it for you so I won't share it but at the same time there's a chance you might miss it when you watch it bc a lot of us, like me, did... Well let's see if you will! π€ Also, the girls are so shippable too! I really ship them! Cheng Xiao's character I swear has special feelings for her! I can't! I can't lie that it also feels like Wen Xiao likes her a lot~ There is even this one scene where it looks like she is much happier to see Pei Sijing than Yuanzhou, which you haven't seen yet, and I'd like to think of it as a GL moment π
Lol 100%?? I analyzed every single interaction they had during my rewatch and boy the amount of different hidden…
In that "acting" scene, I can't fully comprehend what you're trying to say when you mention the "I will kill..." with Yuanzhou slapping him to reality... anyways, dang... that scene felt like really shocking in general... in the way I question, how did it even pass censorship? Like they were so close to each other too π

Tian Jiarui has two which you see placed one after another, and one of them is also an OST Lin Ziye also has sung as it's their theme song together, which you will hear in the drama in the second half.

I know there was one of them spinning in the air while looking at each other AND I HATE THEY CUT IT OUT LIKE OMGGG I WAS SO SAD WHEN I FOUND OUT MONTHS AGO BC THAT SCENE WAS SMTH ELSE πππ We only got the BTS and a snippet from the trailer π©π
