Does anyone else think Bao Shangen and Ma Qiuyuan look similar to each other?? I see no one ever talking about it... I watched BSE in WoF and GtG, and just watched MQY in KTTPH, and I couldn't help but feel they look so similar like they could legit play as siblings! Now I can't wait for this even more after learning they're both here omg!!
Crazy to see how in MOGA (Melody of Golden Age) the FL's best friend is played by Xiao Yan while in here (who ended up being an ex-best friend) it's played by Fan Shiran, and both actresses played as best friends in one of my favorite modern dramas, Eight Hours lol...

Finally finished the drama. Well, the last eps weren't the greatest imo. Idk where it started but somewhere ep 30+ it felt like a mess / disaster lol... And that SML's presence was the main reason for it for me. I do feel some bad things could've been prevented which sucked. But yeah, it's a HE so there's that!!
And since u asked about the romance, I will say I like both leads but they each can be annoying in their own way when it comes to their relationship lol it's like sometimes I won't like the action of one of them towards the other and be angry at them ("Why did you do this?"), and then sometimes it's the same with the other character too lol. But when they do have romantic moments, they can actually be adorable. Anyways, it's a bit of a mess honestly (execution, script, relationship, etc.), but for me it's worth watching overall. Idk about you lol since my opinion isn't yours, so do what you feel like doing (to decide to watch it or not)!
I also mainly watched this for TRTS and I'm glad I did bc I wanted to watch it b4 that drama so now I'll start it! I do feel that drama is gonna be a lot better too (prob an improvement in their relationship as well)!!

Dude's eye acting is insane... He really shows how much he loves the FL and is also very protective of her. Even the FL can be reckless a lot of the time and ML tries to warn her but she does the dangerous things anyway which leads to him coming in to save her. Kinda reminded me of how Hailou used to be reckless in the beginning too and how Haixia would tell him things like "Be careful" "Don't make me always clean up after your mess" "Don't touch [insert thing] because it can be dangerous", etc. lol. It did get a bit repetitive in MOGA but she finally understood the consequences eventually. Imagine seeing Haixia actually always cleaning up after Hailou's mess (before all the tragedy happened) tho lol this makes me lowkey wanna see it even if I may get a little stressed with this guy (since we know Haixia would be very selfless and protective of Hailou despite all that). Bc in the end he learned from his mistakes π But with how they did it in NBDA, rather than being stressed with Hailou, for some reason, he was the type to amuse me lol might be his funny personality!

I'm watching Melody of Golden Age and I recall some NBDA stuff too. Like there's a scene the FL puts too much salt in his food and ML is like, "Why too much salt?" when there's another scene where both ML and FL are in a place were lots of snakes appear, and ML protects FL from a snake coming at them sksksksks I can't help but think of Hailou and Haixia here lmaooo and then there's someone the ML was close with who became terrible that killed many innocent people (not in the way Haixia did but became bad bc of his obsession and stuff) and he was heartbroken and turned away from him (like Hailou did to Haixia) but also wanted to believe in that person that they still have a heart, and in the end, that guy ended up turning around (like Haixia who never wanted the bad things to happen). OH RIGHT, someone was giving ML a nickname with the word "hero" which the "xia" in Haixia comes from the word "xia ke" meaning "hero" and I'm like, "Woah, okay... That's Haixia!" Sorry, I am just so not over NBDA LOL...

The romance has been mostly a mixed bag for me. There are many moments I really feel the thrill of it then there are other moments that I'd get stressed with them bc it felt a bit too repetitive for my liking (miscommunication, not confessing and making the other believe they like someone else, the jealousy (esp on Shen Du's side)), but it gets better! I am actually enjoying the romance more now! Currently I think the second half is better (others may think otherwise). I am only on ep 29 tho so I'll share my remaining thoughts once I finish!

HAHAHA I LOVE THIS CONNECTION OMG SKSKSKS our Shrimpie and Salty Zhang really still have these connections outside of NBDA and I am LIVING for it!! I mean, Shrimpie really was the type to have to "deal" with his Salty Zhang...
So I did decide to start this, and I went into it with very low expectations. I am enjoying it more than I thought. I think if I had watched it while it was airing or had higher expectations, I prob wouldn't have been enjoying it much. Timing really matters when it comes to deciding which dramas you watch imo. Anyways, I can't wait for the cp again in TRTS aahhh! I already know that drama will be even better!!
Random but I went on The Spirealm page and remembered how that one initially aired it as 78 eps/20 min but was then divided into 38 eps/42 min after the airing. I hope this drama will be smth like this length! It just looks too good to be much shorter than that.
I just saw an edited clip and Zhang Xiaoyu (I believe that's him) reminds me of LT Zhang with the way he acts with Ba Ye... He even looks similar to him with the mask on... Frick I am missing that dude rn ππ
