I can feel the old wuxia vibe throughout this drama. Rival sects, tragedies, betrayal, blood feuds, revenge, loyalty and duty, star crossed lovers. We get a calm, cunning, kinda obsessed ML paired with a smart, righteous FL who wears her heart on her sleeve. Her light to his dark. I really like their chemistry and their pairing is visually stunning! 😍 In addition, Cai Pingshu and Mu Zhengyang’s story was really well told. What great casting for both. Throughout the story, it is steadily revealed who were the villains and the victims of the previous generations. About three-quarters of the way through, everyone could almost guess who the “man in black” was, but I didn’t expect he had accomplices. I’m especially satisfied with how everything wrapped up in episode 37 for the future generation especially Yu Zhi, such a strong character. The OST deserves a special mention as well, 清风醉 & 应如是 kept playing in my head throughout my time watching the drama. The drama might not be perfect, but it’s a good wuxia drama to me and I genuinely enjoyed the journey. Kudos to the production team and all the cast. Thank you for the past 2.5 weeks! 🩷🩷🩷

Perfection from beginning to end! Very well scripted and directed, with great acting not only from the main leads (Cheng Lei perfectly delivered as always. This is only my second drama of Wang Chu Ran and I already can’t wait for her next drama) but from the supporting actors and actresses as well. No draggy scenes at all, just a very refreshing and exciting story. Not even once was there a boring moment. This drama kept me impatiently waiting for the next episode every single day.
It is that good that even each death scene, even when it was a character we only knew for a short time really moved me, sometimes even bringing me to tears. I was afraid this drama would be too comedic, which is not really my preference, but the comedy gradually lessened and was still cleverly blended into the storyline.
Last but not least, that wedding dress is so beautiful, absolute perfection 😍! Also, shoutout to my two favorite OSTs: Light Snow, Dark Ink (淡雪浓墨) and Wings Forged in Glory (淬羽风华). Every time they played I knew it was going to be a guaranteed great scene.

Actually,this drama was filmed earlier than the vertical drama (2–3 minutes per ep). It took four months to complete filming from December 2024 to April 2025. The vertical drama was filmed for 2 weeks in May 2025 and aired in late June 2025.
Throw away the logic, sit back, and enjoy the ride, with many arcs and tropes thrown in and mixed together in Affinity! This is very creative. I was hooked from the beginning and simply can’t wait for the next day for new episodes. The kisses were hot, but the hugs were my favorites. OMG, every time felt so deep, comforting, and envious, I must say 😍 Hope Fang Jin and Cui Yu Xin can reunite in another drama ❤️
