Tai Chi is great for cinematic martial arts

Sweet Tai Chi had some good things going for it but also some things that dragged it down a bit. Overall, the show is worth a watch if you think you might be interested in the premise. The Tai chi moves flowed well and made the action fun to watch and the cute Piao Piao's interactions with the stoic Wei Chu made for an adorable couple to watch.

The action portion of the show visually looked great, tai Chi makes for a great cinematic martial arts style. I would not have complained if they had added more of it to the show. All the actors did a good job in these scenes and the choreography was excellent. The camera/editing work was also well done and did them justice.

The acting was for the most part good and passable with a few exceptions. Most notably (and most importantly) the main actors all did a great job with their roles. I enjoyed the way Krystal Zhang handled her character and wanted to take note of that. However, some of the supporting cast felt like they did not deserve to be more than extras and this dragged the overall casting down a bit.

The Story had several spots that may not sit well with some viewers. Rather than giving spoilers and going into detail on the show, I will just say some of the best moments were in the ending credits. Like a lot of shows, they have bloopers in the credits and these were great for me. They really made me think that Bi Wen Jun and Sun Qian would be fun people to hang out with. However, this is obviously not where you want your best moments. That is not to say the show does not have some good moments. I thought the interactions of the main leads (especially early on) were adorable and memorable.

While I do think Sweet Tai Chi has its moments, I would personally not watch it again unless asked. It may be worth checking out though if you think you might be interested in the premise of the show. I did waver a bit on rating this a 7.5 or a 7, my choice ultimately came down to one scene in the show that felt too cliche. If the same boring Cdrama tropes do not bother you as much maybe consider my rating a little higher.

One powerful episode.

This show thrives off of one powerful episode. The casting was very good, but the writing ranged from why to wow. I finished the show feeling maybe the show will get good on episode 9. It had a lot of promise and I do not feel it lived up to it at any point besides episode 4.

I honestly believe that the high rating is because of how powerful episode 4 was. It made me feel real emotion and gave me great hope in where the show was going. I was willing to forgive episodes 1-3 for feeling incomplete and consider them a lul to help make an impact for episode 4. In episode 5 I kind of got sucked into his feelings for a moment and then I was like why? The show should have been more than this. It could have been great a show to talk about for a long time and maybe bring in a fresh perspective on Korean dramas as a whole.

Instead, we get a show that for what it was trying to say felt incomplete and even worse the ending made me feel like what comes next would be the real show. I guess it fits the narrative of the character Death the end is just the beginning. In a way, I suppose the show can be praised for achieving that.

I truly feel the wasted potential in this drama and it makes me want to revisit it in the future. I doubt I will, do not want to feel this disappointment again. I do not know what other people are thinking, but from my perspective, this shows high ratings are all hinged on one episode. I think that shows how great it could have been, and worth giving it a watch once. I will give this a could have been great rating.

My new favorite Park Min Young drama!

I usually go into dramas made from other works I am familiar with expecting disappointment. In the first couple of episodes, I even complained a bit in my head because I felt the lead was too timid in comparison. However, this drama was very satisfying to watch and I do not feel like it lacks in comparison to the original work in any way.

The show really hit positive marks for me all around, it is hard to find many flaws. The script was good the cast was amazing and Kang Ji Won's transformation was satisfying to watch. The ending made me smile and I do not know if I can ask for much more out of a drama. I understand all dramas are based on personal preferences and opinions but I do not see how, if you enjoy this style of drama, anyone would not at least enjoy their time with this drama.

If I had to nitpick I'd say the sound design did not have an impact on me whether the music or effects, be that either positive or negative. And I have to wonder if Kopiko is trying to become the 999 of Korean dramas. They seem to be paying for a lot of in-drama advertisements.

I would highly recommend the drama the acting and script were both top tier in my opinion and made up for whatever minor flaws the filming had. A show I believe I will rewatch multiple times in my lifetime. I give it an excellent rating.

A Good Watch.

This was a good watch that left me with little to complain about. I feel the story should have gone in another direction, but that is just personal preference.

The Casting was particularly good here, I could not find any real flaws in either the main or support characters. I felt the romance was sweet and satisfying for me. As a dog lover, I enjoyed the premise of the entire show.

If the show did not tackle darker themes this would have become a go-to drama for me when I wanted to watch something light that made me smile. The show explores themes such as bullying, kidnapping, blackmail/threatening, and revenge. The show does these themes well and is not necessarily a bad thing. I just felt the show might have become something I could watch over and over again for years to come if they went in a different direction.

I do believe I will at some point give the show a rewatch. I would give it a very good rating and can see recommending the show to people who enjoy this kind of drama.

Should have been better.

Wasted potential is a good way to describe this show. The show had great acting, well-done sets, and sound design. The story's premise was also promising, and the beginning had some impact. In the end it became just another drama nothing to write home about.

The two main settings caught my attention the evil mother-in-law and ex-husband's home is dark, and cold and has sharp objects reflecting their positioning in the story well. The Female lead's office was warm in color yet had strong and hard materials representing her position well. I always appreciate when set designers manage to do this kind of thing. The sound design was also great, and the actors all deserved a better script. The show had a lot of positives to talk about.

The story however missed the mark. The ex-family was involved in every case leaving no room for the title to breathe. It felt like a family feud the whole time, rather than a divorce expert jaded by her past relationship. The romance between the two leads was rather flat but necessary for the story I suppose. The in-show ad placement was fairly obvious almost like it was a cdrama which was something that bothered me for some reason.

Over all I would say the show was not bad, but likely to be disappointing to most people who watch it. I would not personally re-watch this on my own, however, if someone wanted me to watch with them I would not refuse. Mediocre would be my overall vote.
