I'm a little ashamed I watched this one because it was quite appalling in its depiction of sexual assault and emotional manipulation between the two leads. Definitely a toxic relationship. This one was meant to pull on our heartstrings with that horrible breakup at the beginning. But all it ends up accomplishing is horror-stricken shock throughout its run. Would have been a better drama if the lead who was killed at the beginning successfully left his abusive lover at the end and it was shown how his life was better for it. Instead we were relegated to disquieting scenes of obsession and assault, non of which show real love. Ultimately, this drama had potential that was then torpedoed.

While this drama ended on a positive note with the two male leads getting to be together after all, the trope of having a woman in a man's body fall in love with another man feels cheap and overused. The audience feels at least conflicted and at most cheated of an actual homosexual romance. The scenes between the real BL couple are few and far between between that of the female love interest and her ex. Those few scenes are actually really sweet, but leave you wanting more of that and less of the female love interest expressing homophobic views throughout the drama. Overall, you're left with a weird taste in your mouth. Was this review helpful to you?

Soundtrack is bomb! I had to look it up and play it on multiple occasions. It and this drama doesn't fail to put a smile to my face. The premise for this drama is interesting, though I think there should have been more negotiation and conflict over the fact that they were teacher and student. Like love is love, but not when there is a huge power gap between the two of them. In my eyes this drama would have been much better if the two main leads weren't teacher and student and the younger one was of age because this show really thrives on the two-dads-with-a-child dynamic. Acting was amazing. I loved the communication between the two leads, because most dramas have really poor communication. But here you see one lead explaining exactly why is homosexuality and fear of relationships was hindering his relationship with his teacher and the other lead repeatedly professing his love to his lover and his desire for them to be together. They even get married. There isn't much more commitment and declaration powerful than that. Overall 9/10. Was this review helpful to you?

Charming but left me wanting
This drama by far had the best chemistry between actors. That breathtaking dream-kiss sequence still leaves me wanting a love like that. The love story was also the most realistic (of course, that's if you believe in love-at-first-sight). I could believe that Xia Yu Hao was initially resistant to team sports, but was won over by his attraction to the beautiful Qiu Zi Xuan. And they fall in love while training, studying and over repulsion of Zi Xuan's sister's food. Also loved their fujoshi friend and her apt shipping of the team captain and manager. They would make a cute couple and are already super close. Will definitely be watching a third time. My first time watch left me wanting MOAR!! What would they look like as an actual couple? This is why I am over the moon for History 2: Boundary Crossing 2!! The Wang Zen step brothers plot line was also amazing and this would probably be a better drama if they were the lead couple because we got to see the tension and the resolution of that tension when they were happy at the end.Was this review helpful to you?

One of my all-time favorite dramas! I loved that amazing chemisty between the actors. The fujoshi fanfic-writing friend was clearly a character that represents all of us and sees into my soul. Though her meddling was quite uncalled for and unnecessary. I would be hella pissed if it was my love life she was messing with. My only criticism would be the enemies-to-lovers trope is quite overdone. I would love if there was less animosity between the love interests at the beginning and shitty semes. Tries to grapple with the idea of loving a step-sibling. But overall, an excellent drama with an interesting love story. Was this review helpful to you?
