EHH I want to disagree a little because Yi Chen had 5 years of being alone. Yes he was married to a women but they were more friends than any type of lovers. HOWEVER, he himself brought himself back to Lu Feng after the divorce thinking he can get Lu Feng back. So in their own ways everyone in the series is selfish. The only two people that were never selfish in this series are the couple that they used to work with at the beginning of the series. #bringthemback

I honestly think its because of how much of a hypocrite he is. Telling his brother being gay is bad. Telling him that he shouldn't love a man. Feeding his own ideology into Yi Chen which causes Yi Chen to never pick himself before anyone else. His brother gets to be in love with a man but doesn't want Yi Chen to be in love with a man. These high expectations are what is killing the romance from Lu Feng and Yi Chen.
