For me, Double Helix is only a 1 out of 10. I’ve now watched Episode 8, and the only reason I’m still watching is that I want to see Lu Feng make Xiao Chen pay for everything he’s done to him. I’m definitely Team Lu Feng. Basically, ALL the characters here have very little depth; it’s impossible to understand why Person 1 is so infatuated with Person 2. That goes for both pairings. Without exception, all the characters come across as empty caricatures of people with real, relatable emotions. The actors do their job well, no question. The story itself is exciting and has so much potential. But man... who on earth messed up the character concept so badly... specifically, WHO would give up their entire life just for the sake of a dying, homophobic mother, after the couple has already been through so much together? Xiao Chen has as much backbone as a loaf of bread, and his fickleness is unparalleled!
