I wish I could spend my Christmas in Hawaii. Better yet, I wish I could just move there.
Thanks for the advice. I think a vacation first is the best idea. Humid and hot might be fun a couple of weeks, but not necessarily month on end. Especially if you're not used to it.
Hi, I didnt really get the ending.. so why did LSS say he lied to her again? And how come TTJ was in the crypt…
She wanted to die with him, because with him gone the world won't need a Goddess to protect it anymore. He pretended like he was going to allow her to die with him, but in the end still saved her life and died alone.
It wasn't her ghost in the crypt. He just conjured a vision of her to say goodbye, because he couldn't say goodbye to the real her.
The 2023 Year End Drama Challenge is out thanks to @annedelavoye. 💕https://x.com/anniedelavoye/status/1727081957702656121?s=20Day…
I'm going to have to say Lu Xu Xiao. She has an incredibly pleasant on screen presence and is definitely impressive in the way she brings her characters to life.
Started with JDramas in 2006, KDramas in 2009 and CDramas and Taiwanese Dramas in 2009.
I personally did enjoy the Dream Arc. It's a very tragic part of the story with some infuriating characters. I think the reason why people have a hard time with it is because it's basically putting the main story on hold to show us a different one while we're all just impatient to see the rest of the story unfold.

I loved Nodame. I don't know what I was expecting of that drama, but it was an absolute blast to watch. As silly as it was at times, it was a very emotional drama as well. It was among the first Jdramas I watched. The first one was Hana Yori Dango. The first KDrama I watched was Boys Over Flowers. The first Taiwanese Drama I watched was Meteor Garden. There's a pattern. 😋
I had to separate the novel and the drama too, and in the end I kinda understand why they made some of the changes,…
I'm definitely enjoying the drama. As you said, I do understand some of the changes and I don't agree with other changes, but as a drama I'm still loving it.
One of the aspects that did thankfully carry over from the novel is the impact of the emotional moments. The drama is funny, colourful, fun and adorable, but we're also given the emotional parts as well. That's one of the things I loved about the novel and now also the drama.
Made it to episode 13 and Ying Shi has really grown on me. Unfortunately my dislike for Xiu Ming has also grown. I'm also starting to dislike the Heavenly Emperor. He seems suspicious. Maybe it's just me having watched too many Xianxia dramas with horrible Heavenly Emperors.
This was one of the dramas that I looked forward to the most, because I absolutely adore the novel. I'm currently on episode 7 and I have officially decided to separate the novel and the drama in my head, because the changes they made have turned the drama into almost a completely different story. There are obviously similarities, because it is based on the novel after all, but there are just too many changes and too many additions that in my opinion were absolutely unnecessary.
The biggest change that I personally think should not have been made was to change their positions in the Heavenly Realm. In the novel, the two are more evenly matched in power. They end up fighting, because they are both a little petty and impulsive and end up tangling the red threads. The seven lifetimes they spend together is their punishment. This pretty much determines their dynamic. They are more like rivals in the beginning. In the drama his position in the Heavenly Realm is much higher than hers, so her actions are coloured by the fact that she's afraid of what's going to happen when they return and he's angry and takes it out on her. It's a completely different dynamic.
That being said, so far, I'm enjoying the drama. It's very colourful, cute and funny. Ding Yuxi is doing great as Chu Kong. Yang Chao Yue is not as bad as I expected, given all the criticism. It is the first time seeing her on screen for me. She's very pretty and sometimes it feels like she's afraid of making ugly expressions, which makes her look expressionless. There's definitely a lack of depth in emotional scenes, but she does well enough in the cute and funny ones. Luckily there's definitely chemistry between the main couple and that makes their moments together enjoyable to watch. At the moment I'm not liking either Xiu Ming or Ying Shi. Xiu Ming's clinginess and stalker behaviour is unsettling. Ying Shi is that "obsessed with the ML girl" that we have seen in way too many dramas and once recognised that that's the role that she's playing, she becomes irritating to watch.
I was really tempted to rewatch this drama this weekend, but decided to read a few chapters of the novel instead. It has a very different "feel" to it. Much darker (which I expected). Not shipping TTJ and LSS. At least not yet. It's a bit difficult to see how she could fall in love with him. It does make the novel interesting to read even though I've already watched the drama.
