Let's see if I can help explain. They fought in the very beginning in a tournament organized by the Six Realms.…
At this point they think that he has already taken both Heavenly Grief and Golden Millet Dream, so he doesn't need it. So her taking it, wouldn't kill him. Everyone believes, he has more or even a way to make more. And yes, you're right, in order to survive, you need both Heavenly Grief and Golden Millet Dream.
I'm rewatching this and I still don't get the marriage stone writing scene in ep 13. Like why did they get punished…
As far as I can tell, they have to be a loving couple that are sincere towards each other and hold nothing back. At that point, both are not there yet. He's more there than she is, yes, but he also doesn't fully trust her yet. She from her side, is keeping a lot from him. In addition, even her name is fake.
This was one of the dramas I was looking forward to the most, because I love the genre and I have a soft spot for both HMH and LYX and I must say it didn't disappoint in the slightest.
It's not perfect. There are definitely some things that I wish were executed better. However, overall I still couldn't help but give it a 10/10, because I enjoyed it immensely and the episodes just flew by in an entertaining way.
Putting LYX and HMH together was a stroke of genius. The two are not only perfectly cast individually, they also have tremendous chemistry together. They literally light up the screen. Even in quiet moments, I could just watch them sit there and stare at each other.
Overall, the cast was chosen really well and everyone did a great job portraying their characters.
I can't leave out how visually stunning this drama is. From the costumes to the people to the locations to the OST. It's a gorgeous drama.
The story itself is straightforward and not too complicated, which makes it easy to watch. The characters are endearing. One of the things I found a bit lacking were the villains. Some of them were given reasons for turning evil, but I wish those reasons were more compelling or the villains were a bit more conflicted. I think that would have fit the story a bit more. Luckily, while they do occupy a large portion of the story, the focus of it is never really on them to begin with.
Overall, after an entertaining journey of 36 episodes, I can only say that I really loved this drama and will someday definitely rewatch it.
currently watching. really trying my best bc I like the actors and the costumes are fantastic. but I’ve been…
Let's see if I can help explain.
They fought in the very beginning in a tournament organized by the Six Realms. In each fight, two realms fight against each other. The winner gets the Blessed Rain and becomes part of the Upper Realms and the loser becomes part of the Lower Realms. There are six realms, so three winners (three Upper Realms) and three losers ( three Lower Realms). As far as I was able to tell Yaoguang Mountain ( Ming Yi's Realm) and Jixing Abyss ( Ji Bo Zai's Realm) always fight against each other, so the rivals are fixed. Seven years in a row, Ming Yi has won the tournament, but she was poisoned with Heavenly Grief and lost to Ji Bo Zai. Ji Bo Zai is known to have been born without spiritual veins and the only way he could have gotten them was through Heavenly Grief in combination with it's cure the Golden Millet Dream. Heavenly Grief is known to bestow spiritual veins to someone born without them or destroy them in someone who has them, but it's inherently a poison nad without Golden Millet Dream both types of people would eventually die. With a year left to live, believing Ji Bo Zai poisoned her and therefore also has the cure, Ming Yi strips her male disguise and goes to Jixing Abyss to find a way to approach Ji Bo Zai and steal the cure.
Ji Bo Zai on the other hand has problems of his own. As a newly elevated warrior, there's no shortage of people trying to approach him, but most importantly everyone believes he possesses the Golden Millet Dream and are trying to get it from him. None are more desperate than Lord Hanfeng. He's constantly trying to plant spies in Ji Bo Zai's residence. Seeing her opportunity, pretending to help Ji Bo Zai, Ming Yi starts pretending that he promised her a spot at his mansion already and trying to avoid Lord Hanfeng's spies he brings her back with him. They pretend to be a loving couple to avoid others sending women into his mansion to spy on him. She pretends to actually be in love him, to gain his trust and find the Golden Millet Dream. Lord Hanfeng pretends to be friendly, but they are by no means friends. They are mortal enemies, because Lord Hanfeng is responsible for Ji Bo Zai's master's death. The portrait they stole is of Bo Yu Lan, Ji Bo Zai's master. It was a trap set by Lord Hanfeng. Also, she got hurt on purpose, because she's trying to get him to trust her and marry her, so she can enter his Spiritual Well and steal the Golden Millet Dream, which he has hidden there.
As for the good looking Fairy men, there are indeed a lot of them and each have their role. Who exactly do you want to know more about?
I've been dreading this since they went to the Bo Mansion. Even though most of it was obvious and easy to guess from the previous episodes, episode 30 and 31 still broke my heart for MY and JBZ all over again. It doesn't matter if you see it coming, the tears just flow anyway once you see these characters you've grown to love break down.
Poor Master She.
I'm hating the Empress even more now, even though there are glimmers of real affection for MY, that woman is cold as ice. How in the world was she able to give up her own son just to keep her position? She can say it was to save his life all she wants, but it won't make it true. And I suppose it's possible she thought showing affection to MY would somehow betray her dead son, but that's not an excuse for treating her like a tool. She is downright cruel.
Master She is a whole mood. He seems very playful, but also loving and kind. He scolds MY when she deserves it, but also always has her back. He's the only true parental figure in MY's life.
I'm really hating MY's mother right now (not much has been said about the father so far, but I'm sure he's not blameless either). MY only has one petal left. There's absolutely no doubt at this point that JBZ loves her, but the way her mother treated her has left her so afraid to lose love and trust that she still insists on keeping the fact that she's poisoned secret from him. I'm sure she's also afraid of hurting him as well, because he finally found someone he can trust and she doesn't want to break it. It's very heartbreaking to watch. LYX is doing really well portraying that.
SL is definitely a character with a tragic backstory but you are correct in your view of him. He’s presented…
I'll have to agree that SL would not have had a chance even if MY never met JBZ. MY and JBZ have very similar core values and while all three have a traumatic and tragic past, MY and JBZ come out of it selfless while SL seems to be inherently selfish. That also indeed shows in the way JBZ shows his love and in the way SL does. I don't think SL is in love with MY. He seems to be obsessed with an idea of who he thinks she is. He never really wants to get to know the actual MY. He just assumes he knows her, because he met her once a long time ago and followed her life as MX from afar. But MY is not that public persona that she was expected to present as MX. Sure, it's part of who she is, but only a small part. So on top of being obsessed with her, he's not even obsessed with the real her.
There will be more in what exactly happened 100 years ago. But I wouldn’t focus on blocked spiritual veins all…
They keep bringing it up 😋 Obviously not the focus, but since I'm loving the rest so much, I feel like they should have left it out if it's not worked out well. Seeing as this is based on a novel, I'm just assuming it was one of the elements there.
MQB fled and hid with his netherbeasts, but why didn't they catch and imprison his followers. What is that psycho Sun Liao doing at the ceremony? He kidnapped and tortured 27, ZT and MY and is just left unpunished? That's just asking for trouble. He should have been killed much earlier.
The whole idea that women are not allowed to cultivate Spiritual Veins to the point where their Spiritual Veins are painfully blocked wasn't executed all that well. Are we supposed to believe that in a world where Spiritual Veins are rare they punished all women in perpetuity for something that a handful of women did a hundred years ago? Beyond being unfair, like Tian Ji mentions later, it's illogical. What happened to punish the guilty?
The only way this makes sense is that men in power didn't want to share it with women and were already preparing to find a way to strip them of Spiritual Veins. To defend themselves, some women then created Netherbeasts to protect themselves, but ended up making things worse and giving them an excuse to punish all women. Another explanation would be that it wasn't even Fairies with Spiritual Veins who created the Netherbeasts to begin with, but ended up beings scapegoats when it became clear Netherbeasts can't really be controlled.
Otherwise, if there really were some evil Fairies who created Netherbeasts to do evil things, punishing everyone just doesn't make sense.
Will they give another explanation on why women were not allowed to cultivate Spiritual Veins? Or are they done with that now that Tian Ji is allowing it again?
she’s been through so much too, tho 🥲 people just overlook that cuz it’s not as hellish as JBZ’s, but…
I definitely don't overlook her past either, which is the reason why I understand that she's afraid and also has trust issues. She's clearly been used all her life and any affection she was given was conditional. It broke my heart the way she was apologizing to her mother and just a hug in a vision had such an effect on her. That' s why I said I WISH she would get over her fear. I'm not blaming her for taking her time and I'm not expecting her to be at the same pace as he is. It's just that at this point they have both been through so much and they have also been through a lot together and it's clear they love each other. They deserve to be happy.
After everything he has been through, Ji Bo Zai is still such a pure and kind soul. He still chooses to love and to trust. I wish she could overcome her fear and just tell him everything.
oh he took it a thousand steps further.. you have no idea how far he went. Just keep watching
In all honesty, he seems very traumatized by his past (and he has a right to be, he was treated horribly), so his feelings for her are less like love and more like an obsession. It was already strange how lifelong admiration and respect turned into romantic love instantaneously the moment he realized that she was a woman. He also seems blind to what's actually happening and is deluding himself to believe what he wants to believe. All of that is a recipe for some horrible decisions down the line. I hoped he wouldn't go that far, but based on your comment I'm preparing for the worst.
I'm only on episode 9 now, but unfortunately it looks like Situ Ling is going in the direction of "I'm in love with you and I'm willing to do all these things for you, so naturally you're going to have to love me too." It's this assumption that the FL somehow owes them affection that usually makes SML's unbearable. I'm hoping I'm wrong.
