YASSS I've been looking forward to this drama for so long. Super pretty costumes and a prophecy about a whole family ruling the world "Dugu Tian Xia" HOW DOES THAT NOT SOUND GOOD? :)

Story/ Plot: The drama was super interesting for the most part, but then it started going downhill. Don't get me wrong, the story line itself is pretty damn good, its just the acting that got me a little down. Nearing the last few episodes, Yang Jian beings to go power hungry after learning about the prophecy "Dugu Tian Xia". However, I feel like the way he became emperor happened way too fast, like it happened in around 2 episodes fast. The amount of deaths in the drama though (no worries I'm not gonna spoil it :) ) got me crying every time someone died.

Acting/ Cast: ADY AN I must say SHE WAS AMAZING PORTRAYING BAN ROU also JEREMY TSUI WHERE HAVE U BEEN ALL MY LIFE. The chemistry between Ady An and Jeremy Tsui was undeniable, I was more convinced they loved each other compared to Hu bing Qing and Andy Zhang. The chemistry between Jie luo ( Hu Bing Qing) and Yang Jian (Andy Zhang) seemed pretty one note, while Ban Rou (Ady An) and Yuwen Hu's ( Jeremy Tsui) love story will take you on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride, you'll cry when they cry too. And I must add Man Tou ( Li Yi Xiao) portrays one hell of an antagonist But one thing that I found quite annoying with Man Tou's character was her voice, it just sounds so fake.

Music: I put this in pretty much every since one of my reviews but here I go again! Usually with good dramas comes good OSTs.

First of all, I must say that the filming of the drama was ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING it felt like I was watching a movie the entire time.

This is one of the few dramas with older actors (30+) that I've actually really enjoyed. I for one can't believe that Chen Kun (the one who plays Ning Yi) is actually in his 40s, that man looks like hes in his mid 30s still. I must say even though the romance between Ning Yi and Feng Zhi Wei wasn't the most obvious thing in the world they still had their moments. And lemme tell you, those moments were absolutely beautiful and the chemistry between the two were undeniable. Sometimes when Ning Yi would appear on screen I'd think he looks a bit like Willie Wonka, Johnny Depp's version (pretty sure just me though :)). Throughout the drama there's bits of comedy here and there to uplift the heavy atmosphere that the drama usually provides. The only character that I didn't seem to like was Shao Ning Zhao (the princess), she was too naive and never really understood her other brothers, since she only relied on the crown prince and Ning Qi, even though she knew they were committing such crimes, she still trusted and believed in them.

The soundtrack for the drama was AMAZING (probably used the word amazing like 10 times already :)). The music was carefully added in when it was needed and stayed away when it was not. Through this drama I've also learned the beauty of instrumental music, and how each song doesn't need to have words in order to show its meaning.

P.S. I need a man like Gu Nan Yi in my life :) . It was interesting to see how his character developed throughout the span of the drama. Even though he didn't have many lines, each line that he said was delivered wonderfully. My favourite line that he says is "???? ????" which roughly translates to "wherever you are, I am there" (not 100% confident in my Chinese skills though) every time he says that line it brings tears to my eyes.

Plot: Honestly its probably the most entertaining wuxia drama I've watched this year. Technically I guess its almost as good as Ten Miles of Peach blossoms, some might say its even better. The story line was very well written, although I felt bad for RunYu (found him super cute ;) ). SO MANY EMOTIONS, cried so many times during the middle to last episodes (so like GET A TISSUE BOX WITH U). Tbh theres gonna be so many times where u wanna chuck your tissue box at the empress, cuz like HOLY JESUS does she get me angry.

Acting/ Cast: If you've watched any of Deng Lun's other dramas, then u know this ones gonna be good. There's so much chemistry between him and YangZi ( ITS AMAZING!). The actress who played the empress was also super good, cuz u know that when an actress plays an antagonist and GETS U MAD, you know she's good . RunYu (aka Leo Luo) did such an amazing job at portraying his character. His character was honestly willing to do anything for Jin Mi, like he would be willing to die for her. But felt bad for his character because even though he loved Jin Mi so much, she never recuperated the same feelings back for him :( .

Music: Holy cow don't even get me started, CUZ THE OSTS ARE AMAZINGGGG. Mao bu yi has such an amazing voice, his singing shows so much emotion in it. So even if you don't like the drama at least listen to some of Mao bu yi's other song. The second OST of the drama is pretty much a female version of the OST that Mao bu yi sang, but personally I like Mao bu yi's version better. Also if you like the song Bu chou or unsullied (English translation) and Leo Luo, he sings a short cover version that you can find on youtube.

Rewatch: Totally gonna rewatch this, cuz u know a dramas good when its got good OSTs and you don't skip though it :)
