Such a disappointing Fil drama. I honestly couldn’t get past the first episode or rather, I tried to get through each episode, but I ended up skipping and fast-forwarding most of it. The FL’s acting was probably the biggest issue for me. It felt very forced, like she was trying hard to act, and eventually it became more annoying than entertaining. I’m not even sure if the character was actually supposed to be like that, or if it was just the way the character was portrayed.
And I genuinely wonder what the ML actor was thinking when he accepted this role. He has done many better movies and dramas that really showcase his acting skills, so I found myself wondering what made him choose this project.
As for the production… sorry, but it felt like it was trying very hard to copy the K-drama filming style, but the execution came across as a cheaper version of it. The cinematography and overall production just didn’t have the same polish, and at times it felt a little too obvious that they were trying to recreate that K-drama aesthetic.
I really wanted to like this, but between the forced/annoying FL performance, the questionable production choices, and me constantly reaching for the fast-forward button… I think that says enough.
The real age of the actors should not be a problem, but I think the female lead looks her age in the drama. She doesn't look in late 20's to early 30's, which I believe the character's age range would be. The FL lead character's "eyes" in the original Kdrama tend to be expressionless or lack emotion. But in this adaptation, her eyes sparkle or exude "brightness". As a fan of the K-drama version, I don't think the acting and features of the male lead are good enough.
do I need to watch the other films to understand this one?
The John Wick's franchise usually refers to the previous stories just to connect to the current story/movie. But I think the story will be standalone even if it is a spin-off. Usually spin-off is a standalone story and could develop without watching the main movie as the plot or story will tackle the "behind the story". But as a fan of John Wick's franchise, you are missing out on action-packed franchise!
I signed up for Viki just to see this drama. I had read all the Facebook comments and I wanted to see it so badly.…
I completely understand where you're coming from! It’s so frustrating when a drama sets up expectations—especially with a promising premise and attractive leads—only to fall short in delivering believable chemistry or satisfying character growth. Some are hopeful for a sweet, steamy romance, so the lack of spark between the ML and FL just did not translate that nor, it was not part of the intent of the story. Thanks for sharing your thoughts—it’s always interesting to hear how others interpreted the same scenes.
Is it just me, I find the female lead annoying. There is something on her acting that doesnt sit right with me. Is it that she always act with exagerration? She also screams a lot.
I genuinely and assertively wonder why give it only 7 then...?
The current review is based on the 2 episodes I watched. which has this criteria: 7-Star Drama (Good) • Storyline: Well-written with minor flaws; keeps the audience invested. • Characters: Most characters have depth, but some may lack strong development. • Acting: Good performances overall, with standout moments. • Cinematography & Direction: Visually appealing with a few memorable shots. • Emotional Impact: Certain scenes leave a strong impression. • Rewatch Value: Worth rewatching for key moments or performances.
Perhaps that will change in the next episodes…
it could be an 8 or it might go down to 6, depending on the story development, the plot twists and the character development…
I just started watching this - watched 4 episodes. And so far the character portrayal is brilliant- Bando Ryota's realistic portrayal of an autistic character is superb. And "Lion" an amazing child actor. You can feel the weight on his shoulder, at such a young age, his eyes are conveying these messages.
I will still try to give the next episodes a chance. I did not feel right for the 1-2 episodes. I hope there will be more to come - chemistry, plot, character building etc. Kim Se Jeong is a brilliant actor, but I feel she is being typecasted to the same genre.
Finally, Yoon Park in a ML role! Since his Forecasting Love etc drama, I've been waiting for his lead role. And now this. I hope he will do a good job!
